WALMART has come under fire from a shopper who says she refuses to purchase items from the retailer after being charged a “tax” fee.

Michelle, who posted on X under the username @honestlydntwanna, was shocked by the network’s “audacity” with the unusual charge.

“@Walmart How the hell are you going to charge me for a sensation?!” she asked the retailer.

“For not spending what you think is enough money in your store for this transaction?????

“I’m not doing that. The audacity of these big companies.”

Clarifying what she meant by “carrying a sensation,” Michelle explained that a $6.99 minimum order charge added to her account was not related to any service she was receiving, like a delivery.

The image accompanying the post was a screenshot from the Walmart app showing how their store’s cost was calculated.

This shows that the item she wanted to buy cost $13.96, but she saved $2.08, so it cost $11.88.

However, Michelle’s total cost was $18.87 after a $6.99 surcharge was added to her costs.

The digital basket summary revealed that the additional charge was due to the “under order minimum” of $35.

This means she would have to spend $35 or more to avoid the additional charge.

In the comments to the post, Walmart tried to explain the cost.

“We would like to provide some clarification, Michelle!” the retailer responded.

“To qualify for free delivery, your cart will need to be a minimum of $35.”

However, the buyer explained that she did not opt for delivery and was instead charged for pickup.

Walmart asked her to private message them for more details, saying, “We would like to look into this further for you.”

Meanwhile, other shoppers attacked the country’s biggest retailer.

“ARE YOU SERIOUS!? Are stores really out there hitting you with a surcharge for not spending ENOUGH? Wow…” one wrote.

I’m not doing that. The audacity of these big companies.

The US Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.

Meanwhile, some Sam’s Club customers are furious about the delivery changes.

The retailer revealed earlier this month that starting August 19, some of its membership benefits will change.

The retailer has confirmed that free shipping for Plus members will no longer be available on all orders.

Instead, a $50 minimum order fee was introduced to get this benefit, which Plus members previously received for free on all orders as part of their $110 per year subscription.

The move caused some previously loyal shoppers to abandon the retailer, saying Sam’s Clun “found a way to lose a lot of money.”
