‘How is this going to work,’ PetSmart fans ask, as retailer wants to foot the tattoo bill for ink-regretting customers

PETSMART has started an exclusive program to help customers who no longer like their tattoos.

The opportunity comes after the retailer learned of the results of the study on inked pet owners.

According to data, at least 49% of owners have a tattoo they regret but would be willing to cover it up with one of their best furry friends, according to a report. Press release.

The company is apparently offering a select group of its fan base the chance to do just that, partnering with a Los Angeles-based tattoo parlor to get them re-inked with drawings of their pets for free.

Those who are part of PetSmart’s Treats Rewards loyalty program can take advantage of Tattoo Redo starting Thursday.

PetSmart noted the initiative as a way for owners to show “loyalty” to their pets.

“Starting today, pet parents ready to show their loyalty to their companions can request to have a tattoo they regret replaced with one of their pets, courtesy of PetSmart,” the company wrote in the release.

Additionally, those accepted into the initiative will automatically be promoted to the highest level of the Treats Rewards loyalty program – VIPP (Very Important Pet Parent) status.

Bradley Breuer, vice president of loyalty and CRM at PetSmart, praised the program for “celebrating” the bond between pets and their owners.

“We are celebrating all the foot and paw prints our pets leave on our hearts and the love and loyalty their parents show for them,” Breuer said in a statement.

“Tattoos are the ultimate form of loyalty, but we know that sometimes what you thought you wanted to celebrate forever turns out to be… not forever.”

“So we’re turning our regrets into pets because we know you’ll never regret remembering your pet’s unconditional love.”

HOW TO APPLY

Loyal PetSmart Treats Rewards members who want to take advantage of the opportunity must first take a photo of the tattoo they regret and share the story on Tattoo Redo website.

A contest will then be held where PetSmart will select a few winners to fly to Los Angeles and get the pet dye done. Alium Tattoo Studio.

In the meantime, they should also upload a photo of any existing pet tattoos they may have to the Tattoo Redo page as another way to get VIPP status right away.

Finally, it is recommended that PetSmart customers interested in participating in the promotion download the retailer’s mobile app to access a tattoo-themed photo frame to take photos of themselves and their pets.

The Tattoo Redo contest has a deadline of April 30th, so interested customers should act quickly.

PAINT INDECISION

So far, PetSmart’s announcement has gotten a mixed response from fans.

“My worst tattoo is on my FACE… how is that going to work?!” one customer asked in a Facebook thread.

“No tattoos here, idiot,” wrote another.

It is unclear exactly how many loyal Treats Rewards members will be chosen to win the contest.
