“Lesson learned. I used Instacart to place two different orders with Costco recently to avoid fighting the crazy crowds that always show up on the weekends when I’m off work,” she explained in a publish.

“I didn’t realize they would be overcharging me for the steaks I ordered, simply for using the app!”

Instacart is a delivery service offered to those who are unable to reach stores alone, either due to busy schedules or physical restrictions.

The service connects individuals with area shoppers who will come to the store and deliver items to their homes.

Walker detailed the two times he used Instacart to buy groceries.

“On March 30th, I was charged $44.72 for a package of SMALL sirloin steaks that had a list price of just over $25 when I received them,” she wrote.

“Then again, on April 6th, I was charged $43.04 for a package of steaks that had a list price of just $34.61!”

Walker contacted Purchasing about the matter and was told that, despite her anger, the prices were correct.

‘NEVER’

Instacart explained to her that stores set their prices online “which may differ from in-store prices.”

“Basically, COSTCO increased the prices of the first package by 78.5% and the second package by 24%!” Walker said.

I had to rush home to try Costco’s Sol de Janeiro – it was 10/10, looked exactly the same and smelled great too

She added that there is “no rhyme or reason” to the increases, as Instacart charges customer service and delivery fees.

“I will never order from them using this app again,” concluded Walker.

The US Sun has reached out to Instacart and Costco for comment.

However, she is not the only Instacart shopper who has had issues with excessive charges.

Costco Membership Sharing Guidelines

Costco has strict rules for subscription usage that shoppers must follow and has been cracking down on violators in recent years.

  • Core Member Usage: Only the primary cardholder can use this Costco membership card. It is not allowed to share it for purchases, as the photo on the card must correspond to the person using it.
  • Domestic Card: Each Prime Member can add one free Household Cardholder who lives at the same address. That person will receive their own membership card and can shop at Costco independently.
  • Guest Policy: Members can bring up to two guests per Costco visit. However, only the member can make purchases. Guests must be accompanied by a member.
  • Authorized cardholder: For an additional fee, you can add an authorized cardholder, such as a family member or friend, who does not reside at your address. They will receive their own card and will be able to make purchases independently.

Another Costco shopper shared her experience of being overcharged $223 on Instacart, but it wasn’t related to the price increase.

The shopper asked others to check her receipts after noticing the huge overcharge for several items she never received.

After contacting Instacart about the issue, she was told that the shopper chosen to complete her order had “purchased additional items” and that the individual would be blocked from shopping for her again.

“They should stop her from shopping again,” said the irritated shopper. he said.

Instacart refunded her $268 for the full store cost, which she should have only paid $45 for.

Meanwhile, a Kroger shopper was overcharged $77.71 when using the grocery service.
