EMPLOYEES at a major restaurant chain were reportedly told just hours before their shift that they were out of work.
Walk On’s Sports Bistreaux in Horry County, South Carolina, closed abruptly on Wednesday effective immediately.

O News was made known to customers with letters posted to the building saying he had “closed his doors for the last time.”
“We are writing to you with a heavy heart to announce that Walk-Ons Sports Bistreaux at 61 Rodeo Drive has closed its doors for the last time,” the letter read.
“This decision was not made lightly and we want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support over the years.”
“Thank you for being part of our journey. We will be forever grateful for the friendships and memories we made together.
“We look forward to your continued support at our other location.”
No other reason for the sudden closure was given and it is estimated that around 50 employees are out of work.
Workers spoke of their “fear” following the news, with many only being informed of the closure hours before their shift.
Some claimed that the company visited the sites just days before the closure.
During this visit they were reportedly reassured that the site would not be closed.
‘SLEEPLESS NIGHTS’
When asked about his reaction to the news, an employee said WMBF News, “Fear, because I don’t know what will happen with this.
“I don’t know when I’ll find a job or if I’ll be able to survive and pay the rent, so that’s definitely a consideration.
“Especially with my paycheck being late and the closure, it’s definitely putting a strain on a lot of people’s financial situation.”
“I definitely felt very blindsided because the company was at the restaurant days before saying we weren’t closing,” said another.
“Because they just assured us we wouldn’t do it.”
“I’ve had a lot of sleepless nights,” added a third.
“My teammates, myself and many others have told me they are not sleeping, they cannot eat.
“They are very stressed and anxious about their livelihood, and this restaurant is controlling it.”
On Thursday, a reporter for the news outlet saw a U-Haul truck filled with restaurant items, confirming the location was missing.
A spokesperson for the chain told WMBF that employees are encouraged to apply for jobs elsewhere.
The US Sun has reached out to Walk-On’s for comment.
