One of the reasons people love thrift stores like Goodwill is because they offer the opportunity to find rare and valuable pieces at bargain prices.

A Reddit thread posted to the community r/antiques recently asked users, “What’s the most valuable thing you’ve ever found at Goodwill?”

One person decided to share their success in finding an expensive old side table.

“Cushman Colonial Creation maple side table with built-in lamp 1934,” they wrote.

Vermont-based Cushman Furniture Company began its Colonial Creations line in 1933.

To this day, his pieces continue to be sought after by collectors and fans of antiques.

The Redditor said he found the table in good condition, with “a few water rings but no damage to the wood.”

“I bought it for $9.99,” they wrote.

However, the actual value of the piece was significantly higher.

About Etsyone of these tables is described as a “rare find” and is listed for $1,599.

RESALE VALUE

But the Redditor has no plans to sell it anytime soon.

“It’s worth more to me”, they posted.

“I love the quality of the wood and have no interest in abandoning it.”

However, other thread participants reported that they sold their old finds cheaply for a significant profit.

Another said he bought a cherry and amber necklace for $1.50 and sold it for $150.

One of them remembered buying a huge Persian rug from the Salvation Army.

“She is a beauty,” they said.

“The price was $170, but considering it’s easily worth $2,000, we snatched it up.”

Recently, a woman was shocked to discover that her grandmother’s brooch was worth $15,000 thanks to the tag inside the box.

And see why a dad’s leather jacket ended up being worth $2,500
