Content creator Jake Ward (@sippingnsinging) shared the creative side in a viral TikTok videowhich has racked up over half a million views.

He explained how a single mother of two came to him looking for a way to make some extra money.

In response, Ward shared how he has been making wooden pumpkin decorations every year for the past five years.

He uses scrap wood to make and sell wooden decorations as an alternative to pumpkins.

BE CRAFTSMANSHIP

“Wooden lanterns are so simple to make – the easiest thing to make. Minimal cost and minimal tools,” said Ward.

The businessman said that from May onwards he would purchase wood from lumberyards and construction sites.

That’s amazing because a pumpkin will rot in a week and this right here – you can put an LED light on it for the whole month of October and you can use it over and over again.”

He simply asked them for the cut ends and pieces of wood.

“They’ll give them to you because they don’t want them to clog the trash can,” Ward said.

He noted that all the tools you need are a power saw or jigsaw and a hammer and nails or a nail gun.

Ward draws different faces on the front and cuts them out.

“You can’t mess them up, and if you mess one up, sell it for a little bit cheaper,” he said, noting that you get better at making them over time.

The content creator adds an eyelet to the top of the wooden lanterns so they can sit on the porch or hang from a tree.

It also adds a hinge on the back with a little door so that an LED light can be placed inside the Halloween decoration.

“This is amazing because a pumpkin will rot in a week and this right here – you can put an LED light on it for the entire month of October and you can use it over and over again,” Ward said.

He estimated he would make about 300 to 400 jack-o’-lanterns starting in May and continuing through the rest of the year.

The TikTok influencer noted that once you get a handle on the process, you can easily earn around 10 to 12 a day.

He sells them unfinished for $30 and stained for $40, claiming he would sell them each year.

“I’m telling you, people love them,” he said, encouraging others to try the side hustle.

In related news, Target brought back a viral 8-foot decoration ahead of Halloween — they’re almost sold out, but there’s a mini version.

Plus, shoppers are divided after spotting fall flavors on Walmart shelves and begging companies to stop “advancing the season.”
