A TIKTOKER claimed he makes $500 a day painting mailboxes and it only cost him $60 to get started.
As inflation continues to drive up prices, more individuals undertake side efforts to earn extra money to spend.
A TikToker is helping people “grow up” their bank accounts by sharing easy-to-move ideas.
On his account (@load101) he explained how to start a side job painting mailboxes with just $60.
Each house has a mailbox, which makes it easier to find customers without having to travel too far from your home.
Mailboxes take a beating from the elements, causing colors to fade or paint to chip.

“The only tools you will need are a brush, a screwdriver and your hands,” he said in the video.
People can simply start with these items, but he suggested purchasing more supplies to make more money.
He suggested going to Lowe’s and buying a gallon of white paint, brushes, five bags of mulch, a can of spray paint and a screwdriver.
Mulch is used to spruce up the area around the mailbox.
He says you should charge $200 for the first job and $150 for the rest.
“Bam, there’s the $60 you’re going to start making money with,” he said.
“You’re going to sell yourself to three more people and charge them $150 dollars,” he said.
“That’s straight profit.”
FINISHING THE WORK
He said the first thing he would do is remove the numbers from the mailbox or post office before painting.
How to begin
If you want to start painting and repairing mailboxes, you’ll need to buy a few things.
- white paint
- Black spray paint
- A screwdriver
- Paint Brushes
- Fertilizer
Mulching isn’t necessary, but adding it to your services can help you make more money.
You can go door to door in your neighborhood to find your first customers.
While they dry, you can spray paint the numbers.
Then, you can pull the weeds and add some mulch.
“When you pull out the weeds, all the paint is dry,” he said.
Finish the job by reattaching the numbers.
“At first, you might be a little slow, but once you get the hang of it, 45 minutes to an hour, and bam, you’re crushing jobs!”
If you don’t mind doing yard work, you can make $35 an hour with another side gig.
