Singer Alicia Keys says she was unable to speak after her semi-autobiographical show “Hell’s Kitchen” received 13 nominations when nominations for the 2024 Tony Awards were announced on Tuesday.

“These are very, very special moments,” said nominee and veteran star Brian d’Arcy James, nominated for lead actor for “Days of Wine and Roses.”

The Tony Awards ceremony will be on June 16th. Oscar winner and Tony nominee Ariana DeBose, who hosted the 2023 and 2022 ceremonies, will be back this year and will produce and choreograph the opening number.

These were some of the reactions from the nominees on Tuesday:

“It’s an exciting morning. I feel great. This is a very special thing. I’ve been lucky enough to be in this position before, but it doesn’t get old and I don’t take these things for granted, especially as I move along the path. These are very, very special moments.” – Brian d’Arcy James, star of “Days of Wine and Roses”, in interview.

“I am very grateful for this nomination and the historic recognition of our entire show. As a kid from Long Island who took the train to see Broadway shows since he was 7 years old, this is the realization of a lifelong dream.” – Tom Pecinka, star of “Stereophonic,” in a statement.

“Oh, oh my God! I still haven’t caught my breath. I was sitting on the couch watching the nominations live with my husband, Matt, and when they talked about our show, I dropped my glass of water on the couch and started crying. I grew up in Waitsfield, Vermont, watching the Tonys every year with my mom, so this has been a childhood dream of mine. – The book “Suffs” and music writer Shaina Taub in a statement.

“I am absolutely stunned. This season is proof that Broadway is back and the revival has arrived. Thank you to the Tonys for listening to our stories and seeing our hearts. All my love to the other shows and nominees.” — “The Outsiders” star Sky Lakota-Lynch in a statement.

“I’ve always wanted to do theater and particularly doing it here has been a big part of my career and kind of discovering who I was as an actor outside of Harry Potter.” – Daniel Radcliffe, star of “Merrily We Roll Along”, in an interview.

“This is unbelievable. This is so special. All the collaborators who were part of this process, all able to be recognized by their beautiful brilliance. I’m totally speechless. Don’t ask me to write a song.” —Alicia Keys in interview.

“I am completely moved and so proud of this show and the work that all the humans who played it did to bring this story to life.” — “Suffs” star Nikki M. James in a statement.

“I am absolutely honored and thrilled to receive this nomination for my work on ‘Hell’s Kitchen.’ Celebrating being born and raised in New York and creating movement with Alicia Keys’ music was a dream and to be recognized is very special. Shout out to my hometown of Queens, NY!” – “Hell’s Kitchen” choreographer Camille A Brown in a statement.

“What a wonderful morning! ‘Stereophonic’ is a play about a tortuous creative process, but the experience of making it has been one of the most joyful experiences imaginable. I’m proud of my colleagues and castmates whose work was recognized this morning and grateful to have been nominated alongside them and many other brilliant artists.” – “Stereophonic” star Juliana Canfield in a statement.

“I’m thrilled to have been nominated for two plays that interest me so much: ‘An Enemy of the People’ and ‘Mary Jane.’ I salute my extraordinary lead actors, Tony-nominated Jeremy Strong and Rachel McAdams, for performing these plays eight times a week.” — Playwright Amy Herzog in a statement.

“This production of ‘Cabaret’ has been the journey of a lifetime. It means so much that the show has been recognized in so many aspects of production, and personally, to be considered alongside the immense talent in this category is a marvel.” — star Eddie Redmayne in a statement.

“I am deeply moved and extremely honored to be recognized alongside this incredible group of women. I had a great time on ‘Spamalot’. I love making people laugh. I admire the great comedic actresses of our time, hoping to achieve a moment like this. – Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, star of “Spamalot,” in a statement.
