This Irish Kids Rap Will Take Over Your Summer

Think you can find a better summer song? I doubt it.

“The Spark,” a song by a group of Irish teenagers that has taken off online since its release in May, might be the catchiest — and most inspiring — song of the summer.

The energetic song features kids singing an upbeat drum-and-bass techno beat about finding their spark in vibrant performances.

“The Spark” emerged as part of an arts initiative in Cork, Ireland, called Rhyme Island and was created to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s “national creativity free day for young people”. The group of children performing are young rappers who work with Kabin Studio; according to The Guardianthey are between nine and 12 years old.

“We wanted to work with something upbeat and put on a drum’n’bass track. We found the beat and started coming up with ideas for chants and choruses,” said Kabin Studios creative director Garry McCarthy. The Guardian.
