“The Spark,” a song by a group of Irish teenagers that has taken off online since its release in May, might be the catchiest — and most inspiring — song of the summer.
“Do you think you can stop what we do? I doubt it. We have energy, I’ll tell you everything”, says the chorus. “I looked for my spark and found it, everyone in the club started jumping.”
The energetic song features kids singing an upbeat drum-and-bass techno beat about finding their spark in vibrant performances.
“The Spark” emerged as part of an arts initiative in Cork, Ireland, called Rhyme Island and was created to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg, Ireland’s “national creativity free day for young people”. The group of children performing are young rappers who work with Kabin Studio; according to The Guardianthey are between nine and 12 years old.
“We wanted to work with something upbeat and put on a drum’n’bass track. We found the beat and started coming up with ideas for chants and choruses,” said Kabin Studios creative director Garry McCarthy. The Guardian. He said the kids worked together to create the chorus and verses. “The response was incredible. The kids’ energy and positivity inspired people. It’s a really catchy song.”
After being reposted by a popular TikTok account in a video that accumulated With over seven million views, “The Spark” began to gain popularity. When Kabin Crew appeared on an Irish radio show, this video had more than six million views. Videos posted on TikTok by Kabin Crew of the song has accumulated more than four million views.

Their energy and enthusiasm are contagious, and it’s hard not to recite the lyrics along with the kids. Many TikTok users posted videos of their reactions to the song and offered their own dance moves.
