2nd season of The bear was filled with appearances from several familiar faces, thanks in large part to the anxiety-inducing Christmas flashback episode, which introduced audiences to much of the Berzatto family as the matriarch, Donna (played by Jamie Lee Curtis), tries to prepare the traditional Italian -American Feast of the Seven Fishes. As she drunkenly stumbles around the kitchen, smoking cigarettes and yelling at her family, we are introduced to Uncle Lee (Bob Odenkirk), Cousin Michelle (Sarah Paulson), Stevie, Cousin Michelle’s partner (John Mulaney), and Stevie’s ex-wife. Richie, Tiffany. (Gillian Jacobs).

While season three doesn’t have as many cameos, episode 5 features a good one. In the episode, the restaurant staff prepare to welcome a photographer to take photos of the restaurant for the restaurant’s first review. Neil (Matty Matheson) and Ted (Ricky Staffieri) are in the dining room when his brother, Sammy, played by John Cena, shows up to help them polish the floor while teasing them relentlessly. Sammy gets upset with Ted for stealing SD cards and says he’s going to “haunt him” until he “tells him the password.” As Sammy, Cena fits perfectly into the controlled chaos of The bear.

The photographer comes in to take photos of the dining room set up and Sammy continues to “haunt” Ted, even though his brothers beg him to end it all. Eventually he forces Ted to say the password.

But is The bear, so there are some bigger issues at play during Sammy’s visit. The photographer asks the chefs to prepare the duck dish that will be highlighted in the review, but Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) is determined to change the menu every day and no one remembers the version of the dish he prepared when the reviewer dined at restaurant.

The biggest problem: they don’t have duck. Chef Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) tries to figure out who he can trust with the mission of getting a duck and since Sammy doesn’t seem busy and seems somewhat trustworthy, they ask him to do it. “What kind of duck? Fresh water? I saw one in the park,” he says.

Amidst a team constantly working to avoid daily disasters and growing tensions with Carmy’s Uncle Jimmy (Oliver Platt), who is upset about the restaurant’s rising costs and lack of profitability, Cena’s Sammy arrives just in time to relieve some pressure.
