R&B singer-songwriter SZA shocked fans by revealing she would be taking a break from performing live.
SZA, who recently headlined Chicago’s Lollapalooza and Montreal’s Osheaga Festival, announced the news on X.

“Yesterday was my last show for a while,” SZA posted in X.
“I’m finally about to get my life back together, thank God,” she added.
Fans were understandably surprised by the announcement, sharing their thoughts on social media.
“Dear God, bring us Sza back and we will give you Taylor Swift,” one user wrote.
Other fans were more understanding of the “deserved” break, given that she has been touring almost non-stop since 2023.
“Deservedly so, she literally just got off a tour with over 60 shows,” commented another fan.
“SZA deserves all the rest and relaxation,” one fan wrote, adding, “I look forward to her return whenever she’s ready.”
“This is not good news,” commented one fan.
“Can she really do her job for once?” another fan questioned.
Despite the news, SZA won’t be walking away from the music industry anytime soon.
During her performance at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival, SZA played snippets of her previously unreleased track, Cry Baby.
“It’s not out, but it will be,” she told the roaring crowd.
“Ooh-ooh, I know you told stories about me / Most of them horrible, all true / Here are some for you, yeah-ooh,” SZA sang.
She then abruptly switched tracks, playing Garden (Say It like Dat), one of the singles from her debut album, 2017’s Ctrl.

SZA is also teasing a new project, titled Lana, which will reportedly feature previously unreleased material.
“We will be shutting down the SOS leaks and exits as promised, as well as the luxury, as quickly as possible,” SZA shared on X in March.
“Lana deserves more time and music that no one has ever heard before,” she added.
SOS, the singer’s second studio album, quickly became a commercial and critical success.
Released in December 2022, the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and spent ten non-consecutive weeks on the chart.
SOS was named Rolling Stone’s Best Album of the Year in 2023.
SZA embarked on a world tour for the album, dubbed the SOS Tour, in February 2023.
The tour lasted 63 shows until May 2, 2024, after which SZA hit the summer concert circuit.
According to her websiteSZA has two concert dates scheduled for November.
This includes a show on November 20th in Bahrain and November 23rd in Abu Dhabi.
It is unclear whether the hiatus from live performances will end by then or whether the shows will have to be rescheduled.
