The Fugees’ Lauryn Hill, Pras Michél and Wyclef Jean, seen on stage during the 2023 Global Citizen Concert, have canceled their upcoming tour

Lauryn, 49, and The Fugees announced their cancellation on Tuesday, according to Variety.

No reason for the tour’s cancellation was given, leaving fans shocked and disappointed.

Many only learned that the Fugees’ tour had been canceled after receiving emails that said, “Your event has been cancelled. A refund will be on its way to your account shortly.”

Despite receiving their money back, many fans were saddened and even angry with the abrupt decision.

“That’s exactly why I didn’t even flinch when this ‘tour’ was announced, haha. Some of us know better”, joked a fan on X, formerly Twitter.

“Shocking,” wrote a second sarcastically.

Others posted photos of the emails they received about refunds, begging for answers.

“Please say it’s not true, @MsLaurynHill! The Fugees canceled their Atlanta show?? Say no, please. @wyclef?” asked a hopeful fan.

“Dude, they canceled Lauryn Hill and The Fugees’ show next month,” commented a second, adding that they “were looking forward to it.”

“SMH! WTH! I just got an email saying Lauryn Hill’s show was canceled at the Hollywood Bowl! SMH! Sooo disappointed!” complained a third fan.

Variety noted in its article that while no reason for the cancellation was given, it certainly wasn’t related to ticket sales.

Last week, only one show still had tickets available and that show was in Alabama.

TOUR DETAILS

The Fugees’ tour was supposed to kick off in Tampa, Florida, on Friday.

A big show at the Hollywood Bowl was scheduled for September 17, and there were also stops in New York and other major cities scheduled.

After the end of the North American tour, the Fugees were supposed to take a short break and then return to performing in Europe.

No members of The Fugees have posted on social media about the cancellation as of this writing.

The band’s most recent post is from June, and fans are still flooding the comments with questions and complaints about the tour cancellation.

“Did you cancel or am I being scammed?” one person posted.

“I’m so disappointed the tour was cancelled,” wrote a second.

This is the third year in a row that Lauryn and her reunited group have canceled a show or an entire tour.

One fan noted that the pattern is hurtful to fans, writing on X: “IT’S SO DEVELOPING TO BE A FAN OF LAURYN HILL. Last October, an hour before the Dallas show, it was canceled without notice. when EVERYONE clowned me saying I was joking for trying. Canceled AGAIN, I love Lauryn, man.

DIFFICULT PAST

In November 2023, Lauryn and the Fugees were on tour when she announced that they would cancel the remainder of their dates for the year.

She promised to resume the tour in 2024.

“As many of you may know, I have been struggling with some serious vocal strain for the past month,” she said at the time.

“I went through each show taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be harmful to the body when taken in large quantities over long periods of time. To avoid any long-term negative effects on my voice and body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so I can come off medication completely.”

A reunion tour with the Fugees was announced in 2022 and postponed amid ongoing Covid outbreaks.
