Rod, 79, previously told The Sun exclusively how “my days are numbered but I’m not afraid”, just weeks before he was hit by the “summer” strain of the bug.

A message posted to social media on Friday read: We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart show in Stateline, NV, and his August 10 show in Lincoln, CA, have been postponed while the singer recovers from a strain of summer of Covid-19.

“The Lincoln, CA show at Thunder Valley Casino will now be on August 18th and their show at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harvey’s in Stateline NV, the show will now be on August 20th

“Ticket holders should keep their tickets as they will be honored at the rescheduled shows.”

Fans reacted quickly, with many wishing him luck.

One wrote: “Get well soon @sirrodstewart. I love you FOREVER.”

A second said: “Get well soon, Sir Rod. Your health is more important,” while a third wrote: “Feel better soon, friend. Zinc, vit D and vit C every day to stay well.”

Still, some were angered by the last-minute change.

One ticket holder posted: “Hours before it starts so unfair. His team knew tonight wasn’t going to happen.

“We came from Sacramento, had hotel and other expenses. Very disappointed.”

One of them then groaned: “Second time going to his show, only to cancel it.

“Very frustrating to make plans, spend all the money getting there (which cannot be refunded) only to cancel again.”

The shows come after he revealed he would be extending his residency in Las Vegas.

The Do Ya Think I’m Sexy hitmaker has announced a series of “encore” shows in 2025 and said he is “having too much fun for this to end”.

This summer, he took the stage at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for two weeks as part of his show The Hits.

He performed in front of a packed crowd from Wednesday, July 24th until Wednesday, August 7th.

However, now concert goers will be able to see it next year too.

Meanwhile, as he approaches his 80th birthday, he has opened up about his approach to life.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun from his home in Los Angeles, Rod said: “I’m aware my days are numbered, but I’m not afraid.

“We all have to pass away at some point, so we are all in the same basket.

“I’m going to have as much fun these last few years as I can.

“I say few – probably another 15. I can do this easy, man, easy.”

Rod insists he still “goes crazy” after every show at his residency and encourages his dancers and musicians to stop drinking.

Rod said: “I’m not like I was in the 70s and 80s and I can’t stay up all night, get drunk and go crazy and still have a voice like that.

“Nowadays I have to protect my voice before and after every show.

“The older you get, the more you have to do this. Water has a lot to do with this. But no, do you think I only have water in my pilot?

“You’re talking to Rod Stewart here, man. We go crazy after every show.

“We are 13, six women, great musicians and I make them drink.
