CATFISH star Nev Schulman broke his neck in a scary bike accident.
On Saturday, the MTV star shared photos from the hospital and admitted he is “lucky to be alive.”
In an Instagram post, Nev, 39, revealed the incident occurred last Monday as he was heading to his son’s school to bring him home.
“I’ve never been able to pick up my son from school by bike,” he said.
The Catfish star continued: “Actually, in some ways, I’m glad I didn’t do it. I was alone on impact. Me and the truck. And then I think the sidewalk. I was alone and unconscious.”
“And then conscious,” he continued. “Maybe I was OK (I wasn’t). Maybe I could still do my long run on Thursday (I couldn’t).”
Nev was rushed to hospital where he discovered the full extent of his injuries.
“I broke my neck,” he explained before adding, “C5 and C6, to be exact.”
“Stable fractures. I’m not paralyzed,” the TV personality assured before revealing that his “hands were a question mark for a minute, but the human body is amazing and so are HUMANS.
“The incredible knowledge and care from everyone in the medical community has been remarkable.”
Nev thanked EMS, as well as the professionals at Southampton Emergency Room and Stony Brook ICU who provided him with medical care.
“It’s hard to feel sorry for myself when I hear from doctors that many people with similar injuries will never walk again,” he argued.
Nev candidly stated, “I’m lucky to be here, alive, standing and hugging my family, projected to make a full recovery.
“I’m really starting to understand the meaning of gratitude. For the big and small things before the accident, and now for everything moving forward.”
The reality TV star continued: “We hadn’t planned on fishing last Sunday and my instinct was to say no to the fuss by planning a day trip, but looking back a week later I’m so glad I said yes.”
