He was known for his 1990s gangsta-rap aesthetic and fighting for social justice, but he was tragically killed in a shooting in 1996.

Who controls Tupac Shakur’s estate?

Tom Whalley took on the role of executor of Tupac Shakur’s estate following the death of his mother, Afeni Shakur, in 2016.

Whalley is the former head of Warner Bros Records.

In 1989, he was working for Interscope and signed a young Tupac to the label.

In January 2022, Sekyiwa Shakur, Tupac’s sister, and the Tupac Shakur foundation filed a lawsuit against Whalley.

They allege that he has “embezzled millions” and blatantly violated his role as executor of Afeni Shakur’s estate.

When Tupac died, Afeni created the record label – Amaru Records – to handle the release of his son’s unreleased music.

Amaru has released 11 albums since the star’s death, as well as one documentary titled Tupac: Resurrection.

Since Afeni died suddenly of a heart attack, Amaru Entertainment, as well as the star’s estate, has been managed by Whalley.

Tupac owns a company called Euphanasia, which he founded himself.

“Euphanasia” is a word that Tupac created by combining the words “euphoria” and “euthanasia”.

According to a Reddit user Tupac also had many other business ventures planned that had not yet come to fruition.

One of them reportedly included a charity called The Underground Railroad, aimed at helping ex-convicts and drug addicts.

The idea was for those discarded by society to go on vacation with Tupac to prevent them from making mistakes.

Another of the planned themes was to form “Thug Mansions”, according to Afeni.

This would be a place for disadvantaged young people where they would be helped to recover and find a job.

How much is Tupac’s estate worth now?

As of 2024, Tupac’s net worth is estimated to be around $40 million, according to TheRichest.

But The mirror reported that the estate was worth twice that, at more than US$100 million, if combined with a library of unpublished material valued at US$100 million.

How much money did Tupac’s mother make when he died?

It is unclear how much money Afeni Shakur inherited after her son’s death, but at the time of her death in 2016 she had a net worth of $50 million, according to The Richest.

Afeni was an American philanthropist and former Black Panther.

Before she died, Afeni was named executor of Tupac’s estate and founded the Tupac Amaru Shakur Foundation (TASF) in her son’s honor.

Afeni continued his philanthropic efforts after Tupac’s passing and used the foundation to fund numerous scholarships and programs for young people interested in the arts.
