MARTHA Stewart was a little lost during the start of the Kentucky Derby on Saturday.
The self-proclaimed lifestyle expert almost mistook the state she was in.
Martha was given the honor of declaring “Rider’s Up” at the annual horse race – the signal for the jockeys to mount their horses and make final preparations before the race.
“Racing fans from all over the world,” she began successfully. “The city of Louisville and the Connecticut community…”
The 82-year-old woman suddenly froze, realizing that she was not, in fact, in Connecticut.
“I was going to say Connecticut!” she confessed with a smile, before composing herself and continuing. “Welcome to the 150th anniversary race. Rider’s up!”
Social media naturally had a field day with the confusion, with many wondering whether Martha’s mistake might have been caused by some derby treats.
“I think Martha Stewart was drinking mint julep!” one person tweeted on X, formerly Twitter.
“Martha Stewart is so drunk,” echoed a second person, “She thinks she’s in Connecticut instead of Kentucky.”
“Martha Stewart got beat in the #KentuckyDerby,” another tweeted bluntly.
“Martha Stewart, you had a job today and it wasn’t in Connecticut,” sent a fourth.
However, there was no proof or evidence that Martha was drinking at the event, and she did not immediately address the disturbance.
