A video of Katy, 39, was discovered by PopBase while singing in the studio on Monday night while her colleagues donned their best dresses for the Met Gala in New York.
Instead, the singer wore a skin-tight black corset top with a plunging neckline and a zipper in the front.
She paired the top with black leather pants for an edgy head-to-toe look.
Katy’s dark hair was styled in curls and she placed her hand on her hip as she played a studio microphone.
Although the clip had no sound, it was evident to fans that the American Idol alum was recording new music instead of attending the Met.
FAN CONFUSION
Fans were interested to see that the mother-of-one wasn’t in New York for fashion’s biggest night after an AI-generated photo of her at the event went viral.
“Did I see pictures of her there?” one stated.

Many fans were stunned on Monday after AI-generated photos of Katy and Rihanna, 36, circulated online.
During fashion’s biggest night, genuine photos emerged of the stars wearing dramatic looks to reflect the 2024 Met Gala theme, The Garden of Time.
Many fans were fooled, despite the fact that the Fenty Beauty founder was last seen at the star-studded event in 2023 and none of them attended this year.
In the AI renderings, Rihanna was wearing a jaw-dropping cream dress that mimicked a forest setting with grass and flowers trailing up her skirt.
