LOS ANGELES entertainment reporter Sam Rubin has died.

A source said Variety Rubin suffered a heart attack after doing his regular Hollywood news segment on Friday morning.

He was rushed from his home to a Los Angeles hospital, where he went into full cardiac arrest, according to TMZ.

KTLA also confirmed the news on Friday afternoon.

“KTLA 5 is deeply saddened to report the passing of Sam Rubin,” the outlet wrote in X.

“Sam was a giant in the local news industry and entertainment world, and a fixture on Los Angeles morning television for decades.

“His laugh, charm and caring personality touched everyone who knew him. Sam was a loving husband and father: the roles he valued most. Our thoughts are with Sam’s family during this difficult time.”

In a live announcement on KTLARubin’s colleague Frank Buckley said, “The Sam you saw on the air is the Sam who was off the air.

“For all of us, he shared his mornings on television, and for those he worked with behind the scenes at KTLA, we will not forget him.”

Another colleague, producer Ashley Regan, shared her sadness upon hearing the news.

“Today Los Angeles lost an icon and KTLA lost a family member. I will be forever grateful for the privilege of working on a newsroom with Sam. What a terrible loss,” Regan wrote on Twitter. X.

Rubin was known for his coverage of celebrities in the Los Angeles area.

He joined KTLA morning news in 1991.

The 64-year-old is a multiple Emmy winner and host of Hollywood Uncensored with Sam Rubin, which produced more than 100 episodes.

His production company, SRE Inc., has produced more than 200 hours of shows, including the popular live red carpet shows.

Sam Rubin was a legend. Rest in peace king.

Rubin received the Golden Mike Award, a lifetime achievement award from the Southern California Broadcasters Association, for KTLA.

He was also a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the largest organization of broadcast and film critics in the US, with more than 200 members.

Several people took to social media on Friday after learning of Rubin’s passing.

“Sam Rubin was a LEGEND. RIP KING,” wrote actor Jerry O’Connell in X.

The Critics Choice Association said it was “devastated by the sudden loss” of Rubin, whom it called a guiding force.

“Sam’s generous spirit, unfailing good humor and deep knowledge of ‘Hollywood’ have made him a legend in the world of entertainment and a trusted friend to millions of viewers – and to hundreds of stars who have relaxed into easy conversations with him in her set on KTLA and countless red carpets,” they wrote on X.
