BLAKE Shelton has shocked fans with a rare photo of his mother Dorothy Shackleford on Mother’s Day.
The country music star, 47, posted a candid photo on Instagram posing with her mother as fans said she looked ageless and more like her sister.
Blake celebrated Mother’s Day on Sunday with the cutest post on her main Instagram page.
The megastar donned a baseball cap and printed shirt while with an unexpected date – his mother.
Dorothy put her hand over her son’s shoulder and brought her face close to his to take the photo.
They appeared to be at Dorothy’s house, apparently where Blake was raised in Oklahoma.
Dorothy was the star of the show as she donned red braids and a country-style top while smiling.
Her post was simply captioned: “Happy Mother’s Day Mom!!!
‘My God, you look so young!’
Fans took to the comments section, amazed by the rare glimpse of the country singer’s mother looking great.
“Is that your mom?!! I don’t think we see many photos of her. She’s a beautiful mom. Maybe share more photos of time together with her?!” an important comment read.
“OMG she looks like a sister wow,” wrote another.
“She looks SO young!” wrote a third.
“I love this!! Happy Mother’s Day to your mom! She’s beautiful and looks too young to be your mom!” she wrote a fourth.
BLAKE’S DIFFICULT PAST
Dorothy is – as fate would have it – a songwriter, author, artist and retired hairdresser.
She co-wrote a Christmas song with her son, “Time for Me to Come Home,” which later inspired a Hallmark Christmas movie franchise.
The “Happy Anywhere” singer is one of Dorothy’s three children.
She had one son, the late Richie, with her first husband, Ronnie Musgrove, and two children, daughter Endy Shelton Intrieri and son Blake, with her second husband, Dick Shelton.
Richard “Dick” Shelton died in 2012 and was a car salesman.
They divorced and Dorothy later married her third husband, Mike Shackleford, who was Blake’s first boss and music manager.
Blake has always been close to his mother and she pushed him towards his dreams.
“When my mom pulls into the driveway, I don’t roll my eyes like a lot of people do when they see their mom coming,” he told CMT in 2011.
“I’m excited because she’s so much fun to be around, especially the older I get.”
Dorothy also told Today that she wasn’t surprised to see her son’s star power increase after he joined The Voice (for 12 years).
“Even when he was young, people liked him, because he was like that his whole life, just a jokester, cut off, crazy, upset to death, a pester. I mean, it’s him,” Dorothy said.
She also attributed her personality to herself and her late father.
‘SUPER WOMAN’
Last week, Blake bowed down to another woman in his life: wife Gwen Stefani, 54.
She flew in for her appearance at the 27th annual Power of Love® Gala.
The No Doubt star was all smiles as she dazzled in a short silver dress, while Blake looked dapper in a dark suit jacket and jeans.
The couple smiled and looked at ease in front of the media as they posed on the pink carpet.
The singing lovebirds, who tied the knot in June 2021 after meeting on The Voice seven years earlier, applauded anyone who doubted their marriage.
The Barmegeddon host declared his wife “superwoman” for flying from the Bahamas to Sin City to support him.
“It’s wonderful. She’s a superwoman,” he told The US Sun.
Blake said: “Last night she was doing a show in the Bahamas and got here. It is wonderful.”
The country music star also spoke about being a proud stepfather to Gwen’s children, who are “always ready” to support their mother.
When asked if he needed to remind them to prepare for Mother’s Day, he said, “I don’t need to because her kids have been amazing.”
The country star is stepfather to the singer’s three sons, Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 10, who she shares with her ex-husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale, 58.
