ALFONSO Ribeiro revealed that playing Will Smith’s cousin on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air was both a blessing and a curse.
The actor spoke about how his life changed after the legendary sitcom.
Alfonso played Carlton Banks on the early ’90s NBC sitcom.
He was often the running joke of Will Smith’s self-styled character, while also becoming a fan favorite after memorable moments like when he danced The Carlton.
However, he recently shared that he regrets the role.
“Playing Carlton in ‘Fresh Prince’ became a sacrifice,” he said in a new interview with Closer weekly. “I always said that doing Carlton was the best and worst thing that ever happened to me.”

He further explained that his “sacrifice” almost cost him his acting career.
“It was one of the best roles I’ve ever been lucky enough to play, but it was also the role that stopped me from acting again because people couldn’t see me as anything else.”
HOST WITH MORE
Alfonso may no longer be acting, but he’s still enjoying life in front of the camera as the host of Dancing with the Stars.
“I’m enjoying being a host and I’m very happy with it,” continued Alfonso.
He also showed love for his co-host, Julianne Hough.
“Julianne and I have incredible chemistry together for the show,” he said. “We really work well together. I’m really enjoying everything I’m doing.”
However, never say never.
“But, yes, I would return to acting if it was exactly the right thing.”
CHEMISTRY CLASS
Alfonso and Julianne showed off their chemistry last year when the two shared an impromptu collision outside of the studio.

Julianne was smiling sensually behind Alfonso, who was making his own seductive moves that looked nothing like The Carlton.
The 35-year-old showed off her style, getting down and thrusting her hips as she teased the former Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star.
Her slim body was tucked into tight jeans, while she covered it up with a long-sleeved white shirt with a plunging neckline.
Alfonso’s dancing was a little less polished, as he flailed his arms like an unstable, inflatable man outside a used car dealership.
The AFV host grabbed a nearby railing for support.
He relaxed in a red button-down shirt, black hoodie, and black jeans.
The pair seemed to go unnoticed by the other crew members, who passed behind them.
