ZAC Brown and his ex-wife Kelly Yazdi’s divorce has become tumultuous since the couple ended their four-month marriage in December 2023.
Last year, the former couple asked for privacy during their divorce, but participated in public discussions months after that request.
Between lawsuits, restraining orders and blunt statements on social media, the “mutual respect” that Zac, 45, and Kelly, 33, once shared appears to have been replaced by a shared resentment.
THE DIVORCE
“We are in the process of divorcing,” said the exes TMZ.
The statement continued: “Our mutual respect remains. We wish each other the best and will always cherish our time together.
“As we navigate this personal matter, we simply request privacy during this time.”
On August 31, Zac and Kelly were married in a secret ceremony in Coweta County, Georgia.
The former couple was engaged for about a year before getting married.
Fans suspected trouble in paradise when Kelly deleted her Instagram account.
When the model reactivated her account, Zac was removed from her bio and all photos of them together were deleted.
She even unfollowed the Zac Brown Band singer on the social media platform.
RESTRICTION ORDER
Last Friday, Zac filed a lawsuit against his ex-wife demanding that she take down an Instagram post that he felt tarnished his public image, as reported by NBC News.
He claimed that an Instagram post by Kelly broke a confidentiality agreement she had signed, according to court documents.
The Chicken Fried singer sought an emergency temporary restraining order that would force her to delete the compromising post.
Zac also asked the court to stop his ex-wife from “making any defamatory, false, false or harmful statements” about him, his family and his bandmates.
The action did not specify the position in question.
In a statement to NBC News, Brown said, “I have taken the necessary steps to enforce an agreement between us to keep personal and business matters confidential and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation.”
He added that he hopes to “keep private matters private and move forward with the mutual respect we agreed to show each other when we separated.”
REFUSING TO BE SILENCED
On Sunday, Zac would see his hopes dashed after Kelly responded to the lawsuit with a TikTok post that included a statement about the restraining order.
In the video, Kelly sat on a patio as she addressed her followers and anyone else watching the video.
She started, “Hey guys, it’s Kelly.”
“I wanted to jump in and share with you that I included my written statement in the caption of this video.”
I have taken the necessary steps to enforce an agreement between us to keep personal and business matters confidential and to protect my family from online harassment and speculation.”

Kelly added: “This statement is very important to me. And I want to thank you for reading and listening.”
The statement read: “No one – not even Zac Brown with all his money, power, celebrity and lawyers – can silence my right to express myself freely through art or, although to date I have refused to do so publicly, to talk about the circumstances of our pending divorce.”
She continued: “I intend to respond quickly and robustly to your meritless complaint that the publication of two poems on my personal social media account disclosed any “confidential information” about your business, let alone authorize a court to ban me to talk about issues in my area. personal life that has nothing to do with my previous brief work for the Zac Brown Collective, Inc.”
Kelly wrote: “It’s beyond ironic that Zac’s first act after filing unnecessary public divorce proceedings was to release a music video that deliberately mocked our wedding party from just a few months prior – including an obviously false and defamatory caricature meant to be me and hurt me – followed by a second unnecessary and legally meritless public lawsuit and press release, but now he claims his “only hope” is that we demonstrate “mutual respect” for each other by keeping “private matters private ” as we negotiate the terms of our divorce.”
“In a misguided effort to do just that, I have not publicly responded to any of these very public and unnecessary personal attacks against me by my famous soon-to-be ex-husband,” she added.
The actress continued: “But it is clearly Zac, not me, who strategically chose to drag out our difficult divorce negotiations in the public eye with these tactics in an effort to portray himself as a victim and use his vast resources to silence me. telling the truth about our marriage.
“It won’t work and I will not be silenced by him, no matter how ridiculous his tactics are.”
Kelly concluded: “Just like Zac, I also have lawyers and I will tell my truth in court – where he needlessly dragged me.”
