A TRAILER for Celine Dion’s new documentary has been released online.
In it, the singer talks about her declining health and introduces the rarely seen children she shares with her late husband, René Angélil.
I Am: Celine Dion is set to release on Amazon Prime Video on June 25th.
Celine, 56, begins the trailer by walking up to her twin sons and a voice telling her that her voice is the “conductor of her life.”
She walks up to them and gives them a hug while asking if they are okay.
They say yes and then Celine says she loves them in French – Je T’aime – and they respond that they love her too.
Celine is then seen playing with her children as they fight with lightsabers and use virtual reality.
She is later seen playing baseball with one of them.
Other moments in the trailer include footage of her performing on stage when she was younger, crying about canceling shows and later talking about her illness.
His twins are named Nelson and Eddy Angélil, both 13 years old.
She also shares an older son, René-Charles Angélil, 23, with her husband.
Celine’s children are kept out of the spotlight and are rarely seen by the public.
Her husband died in 2016 of throat cancer.
‘I WILL NOT STOP’
Still in the trailer, Celine cried about not being able to perform on stage because she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome.
She has been battling the neurological disorder for a few years and was diagnosed in 2022.
What is stiff person syndrome?
Celine Dion stepped out of the spotlight after being diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease
Stiff Person Syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that progresses over time.
The condition causes pain and muscle spasms that worsen over the years.
According to Contact A Family, the condition is characterized by “progressive stiffness and painful spasms in the back and limbs, which are often triggered by touch, noise, or anxiety, and exacerbated by movement.”
There is currently no cure, but death from the disease is rare.
Severe chest spasms can sometimes cause difficulty breathing.
“I was diagnosed with a very rare neurological disorder and I wasn’t ready to say anything before,” Celine said on camera.
“But I’m ready now.”
Celine got emotional when she said that she had to cancel several shows for health reasons.
“It’s not difficult to do a show, it’s difficult to cancel a show,” said the singer.
“I’m working hard every day, but I have to admit it’s been a struggle. I miss people a lot, I miss them.”
“If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. But I won’t stop,” she said.
In the end, Celine was in tears.
YOUR DIAGNOSIS
Celine revealed that she was diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome in 2022.
She did this because she was forced to cancel shows because she was in too much pain.
During this period, the singer spent some time away from the spotlight.
“Trying to overcome this autoimmune disorder has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life, but I remain determined to one day return to the stage and live as normal a life as possible,” she captioned an Instagram post.
