Jimmy’s son smiled widely as he lay in bed in a hospital gown.

Billy had cannulas and wires attached to him and was holding a blanket against his chest.

William, nicknamed Billy, was born with a congenital heart condition, meaning he was born with a defect.

Jimmy shares his son with his wife, Molly McNearney, and the two have been married since 2013.

“This weekend our boy Billy had his third (of three, we hope) open heart surgery,” Jimmy captioned the Instagram post.

“We went into this experience with a lot of optimism and almost as much fear and discovered a new valve inside a happy, healthy child.”

Jimmy went on to thank every member of the team who helped his son, including chief surgeon Vaughn Starnes.

“Misty, Ann, Sylvia, Dana, Caleigh, Nick, Bekah, Julie, Kenny, Caroline, Lisa, Stephanie, Ellize, Ivy, Pam and Carrie came to us with immeasurable kindness and expertise,” he continued.

“Walking through this hospital, meeting the most vulnerable parents, the suffering children and the miracle workers who do everything in their power to save them is a humbling experience.

Jimmy added that there was additional help available for families who may not be able to afford treatment.

“We hope you never need CHLA, but if you do – know that they help families regardless of their ability to pay, thanks in large part to the Affordable Care Act (another salute to the late Senator John McCain), generous donations from companies like Disney, who I’m proud to work for and especially generous people like you,” Jimmy noted.

“Thank you to these loving strangers who took the time to pray and send positive energy to our baby,

“Thank you to our family and friends for rallying behind us in an almost ridiculous way, thank you to my wife Molly for being stronger than is reasonable for any mother, and Billy, you are the toughest (and funniest) 7 year old. ) we know,” Jimmy gushed.

“There are so many parents and children who are not lucky enough to return home after five days. Please share your love, heart and prayers with them and if it moves you.”

THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Jimmy added some links to charities that help children in need of medical support.

“Nothing matters more than taking care of each other. With love and gratitude, Jimmy,” she concluded.

Fans flooded the comments section with well wishes for Jimmy and his family.

“Great news to hear!! And yes, bless children’s hospitals across the planet. Glad you’re safe,” one follower wrote.

“What a champion!!! Sending healing and healthy energy,” added another.

What is congenital heart disease?

Jimmy Kimmel’s son Billy has suffered from the disease his entire life and has had multiple surgeries to help throughout his 7 years.

According to Mayo clinicCongenital heart disease is defined by one or more problems in the structure of the heart present at birth.

The problems are caused by blood vessels that do not fully develop in the uterus.

“Congential” means present from birth.

Billy, who turned 7 last month, has been at the center of Jimmy’s social media posts wishing him well.

“Billy turns 7 today and is doing great, thanks to the doctors, nurses, therapists and staff at @ChildrensLA and @CedarsSinai,” Jimmy wrote.

“Billy is asking friends to ‘donate $7 because I have seven years to help kids in the hospital.’ (He also wants a spy kit) His goal is to ‘raise $100 to help sick children’. If you would like to donate – thank you and link in bio.”

FAMILY’S LOVE

Jimmy and Molly have been huge supporters of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

The couple shared another close-up photo of Billy.

“This boy is seven years old because of you. Molly and I are overwhelmed by your generous donations to @childrensla and kind messages,” Jimmy wrote to his fans.

“Thank you for all the love. We wish you and your family good health and great friends.”
