On a interview shared on YouTube, Dylan, 27, opened up about his days on television and his new career in music.

The star has a band Wallows, who recently released their third album.

The interviewer, however, couldn’t help but ask why Dylan stopped acting and whether he would ever return to the craft.

“I was very lucky to be successful in that… I was in 13 Reasons Why, and it was very popular and really peaked so far in what I had as an actor,” Dylan responded.

“But it also started to feel a little laborious… I feel like Wallows and the music is this passion that we’ve always had as a group to really take to the end, as far as we can.

“I was like, ‘I feel like I’m in a position now where I can do this for a while and get as far as I can, and the only way that’s going to happen is if I put in my 100% time and energy about it, and take it very seriously…” the movie star continued.

“For me, I’m just following what feels natural and inspiring at the moment, and obviously I’m incredibly privileged and lucky to be in a position where it’s like, ‘This starts to feel like work, so I’m going to do this now and this will be my work.

“It’s crazy, but it’s working out that way and I’m just following what feels inspiring.”

However, he hinted that he wasn’t necessarily done with Hollywood for good.

“One day I’ll think about it as a concept… but I have to do that first,” he shared.

FAN FURY

Although Dylan openly explained his job change, some people were shocked by his words.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans quickly criticized the star for a specific part of her explanation.

“Ah, to have Lux quitting your job because it starts to feel like a job”, criticized one person.

“I get what he’s trying to say…but that seems a little tone-deaf considering how lucky he is to do what he does for a living while others work 9 to 5 for a living,” said a second.

“Call me crazy, but… isn’t this a job?” a third social media asked.

“He’s good at mute,” joked another.

“He should have said this during the strike to all the people who need this job for their livelihood,” wrote a fifth fan.

“Greatest Gen Z Entitled Brat response ever,” another commenter raged.

Despite the fury, one fan argued that Dylan had every right to follow his passion.

“He recognized his privilege and that’s what matters. I don’t know why people are acting like they wouldn’t do exactly that if they were in a position to do it. Creating art to do money will never be so rewarding. Anyone would do what he did if they could. It’s not his fault we can’t,” they said.
