He was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City.
He currently serves as Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Elmont Union Free School on Long Island.
García received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Government from Beloit College in 2004.

Ross Mathews and Wellinthon García were married on May 7, 2022, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where they met just over two years ago.
The pair met while celebrating New Year 2020 and started dating during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
“It was a very pandemic love story… we would just catch up,” Mathews said ETabout Zoom and FaceTime dating.
“And it seems like it would be impersonal, but it really forced us to have deep conversations and really get to know each other,” Mathews added.
Mathews popped the question after about a year of dating, in February 2021.

The beachfront wedding ceremony took place at the Almar Resort, where the couple exchanged vows in front of 110 guests.
“It was a destination wedding,” said Mathews People.
“So we invited 130 people, thinking maybe 50 would come. But 110 people came — and I’m thrilled!”
The wedding also had a very special guest – Drew Barrymore, Ross’s friend, boss, and co-star on The Drew Barrymore Show, who not only appeared at the nuptials but also served as the ceremony’s flower girl.
“One day we were doing a story about weddings and she asked me, ‘Are you going to bring a flower girl to my wedding?’ And I thought, ‘Why? Do you want the show?’” Ross recalled.
“And she said, ‘Oh! Are you asking me to be your flower girl?'” he continued.
“I was like, ‘Do you want to be?’ She said, ‘Are you serious?’ I’m like, ‘Are you serious?’ And she said, ‘I’m serious.’ So she’s our flower girl!”
Although many celebrities were in attendance, the wedding was also a family affair.
García’s father walked García and Mathews down the aisle, while Mathews’ brother, Eric, served as the couple’s best man.
García’s sister was the “Pride of Honor,” and the couple’s nephews, Evan and Andrew, served as ring bearers.

The happy couple has been going strong ever since, with their relationship still blossoming years after they tied the knot.
“2 years ago I said the most meaningful words of my life to my soulmate and made an irrevocable vow that I value and honor.” Garcia shared on Instagrammarking the couple’s second anniversary.
“The last 2 years have been pure love, happiness, laughter and so much happiness. I can’t imagine anything else I want in life.”

Do Ross Mathews and Wellinthon García have children?
As of June 2024, neither Ross Mathews nor Wellinthon García have children.
However, the couple is raising a fur baby together!
