ATHLETE Cody Simpson has made his musical comeback after receiving bad news about his swimming career.
On Saturday, the pop singer hoped to make the Australian swimming team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France – but did not make the final selection.
Cody, 27, finished fifth in the 100m butterfly at the Olympic trials and commented on his defeat – and revealed he would return to the music industry.
“It’s bittersweet,” he told reporters at the big event in Brisbane.
“But I did what I could – and that’s all you can do.”
A few days before entering the pool, Cody reflected on the time he spent training to be an Olympian.

‘I GAVE EVERYTHING I HAVE’
On his Instagram account, he shared a blink of an eye of himself concentrated while swimming.
“I find myself reflecting on the last 4 years I’ve had chasing my dreams and desires in this sport.
“It seems like just yesterday it was 2020, getting back into the water raw and totally unfit, having not swum or competed since I was a boy.
“I gave everything I have morning and night in training to see what I can get out of myself; I burned every boat I could burn in the chase.
“The physical and mental expansion that swimming has brought me now is enormous. Along with all the dreams achieved in swimming for Australia.
“Thank you to everyone who supported me on my journey. I do all this for the 12-year-old boy in me. He would be so happy to know everything that happened. I think so, because he is me! See you later on the other side! “
‘SO PROUD’
Family and fans showed nothing but support for Cody in the comments section.
Cody’s sister Alli wrote, “Love you brother.”
“We’re the same age and following your journey for just over a decade has been mind-blowing, I can’t wait for what’s next, I’m already super proud,” said a fan.
A second wrote: “Beyond proud of you man.”
