“Thank you for your kindness,” Easton captioned an Instagram video of him sharing a heartfelt farewell message.

“My heart is full of love and gratitude.”

His departure from the soap opera was a big surprise for his fans.

The post that Easton shared on Instagram about his departure from General Hospital received more than 8,000 likes.

“I can’t imagine where they will go with this story that makes any sense (other than the longest rehab stay in history) but it’s a shame,” someone said in one comment.

“I’m confused as to why they would make us fall so in love with Finn’s family and then destroy it in a week. We’ll miss your work terribly, but we’ll all be keeping an eye on you,

“Thank you for 10 incredible years of TV!”

Another fan wrote: “I’m crying. I will miss you so much. You are a wonderful actor and an even better human being.

“Port Charles will not be the same without you. However, I know great things are in your future and I can’t wait to see what happens next. What a class act you are!”

Another person expressed: “I’m upset right now,

“I wish you wouldn’t leave – I hope to see you on another show! Good luck!”

In the clip, the Emmy-nominated star explained that she “always liked the Irish goodbye.”

“That’s leaving the party without telling anyone you left,” he explained.

“But I thought you all deserved better. So I just wanted you to know that I just finished filming my final scenes here on General Hospital.”
