NICKI MINAJ’s half-sister Ming Luanli has broken her silence about her relationship with her famous brother.
Luanli, who shares the same father as Minaj, opened up about their relationship on a podcast earlier this week.
When speaking to the We in Miami podcast, Luanli addressed the situation of her relationship with her half-sister.
Luanli said: “We were never close. She was always busy and I also did my own thing.
“Even if people think we’re not cool, we’ll argue. My sister gets mad at me. That’s nothing new, siblings will fight.”
However, she said that Minaj was a good sister, saying, “She would check up on me and my dad every now and then.
“She always made sure we were at least good, in some way.”
The sisters are the daughters of Robert Maraj, who died in 2021 in a fatal hit-and-run.
Like her rapper sister, Luanli also pursued a career in the same field.
She made it clear that Luanli doesn’t want to be known as “Nicki Minaj’s little sister” as she emerges in the rap industry.
“I am Ming Mual Li. I will make great moves on my own, without any secret favors. I will rise to the top,” she said.
BULIED AT SCHOOL
During Luanli’s conversation with the podcast, the promising musician revealed that she was bullied due to her relationship with rapper Pink Friday.
“I used to get bullied a lot for that,” she said.
“People used to say, ‘Oh, if that person was your sister, why didn’t she do that for you?’ Why didn’t she do it for you?
“I never needed her to help me achieve my goal.
“I just needed her to see that I can do this and for her to be proud of me without thinking that I needed an easy way to get to the top.”
As of this writing, Minaj has yet to respond to the viral clips.
FIGHTS ON TOUR
Luanli’s interview comes after Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour appears to be scrambling for North American tour dates.
Earlier this month, Minaj also had a run-in with the law after being detained for Dutch police just before she took to the stage for her Manchester show.
Minaj livestreamed the arrest while at Amsterdam airport after being accused of “transporting drugs,” which the rapper denied.
She was later released after spending six hours in a cell and had to pay a fine.
Although she was dropped, fans were furious when many traveled from Scotland to Manchester to see Minaj perform.
She formally addressed the series of events on X, formerly Twitter, telling her fans: “Please accept my deepest and most sincere apologies.
“we’ll have another date for tonight’s show soon and I’ll probably be able to share it tomorrow.”
