Normani, 28, revealed that she was excited to take the stage during Sunday’s BET Awards.

She suffered an injury during rehearsals and yet was unable to go on stage.

“I’m more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believes me,” she began.

“I wanted to come here and give you an update that during rehearsals for BET I was in a very serious accident and injured myself.

“I’m normally good under any circumstances, but unfortunately, due to my doctor’s orders, I can’t make that performance happen.”

“I desperately wanted to give you my best on that stage, but performing would delay my healing,” the former Fifth Harmony member continued.

“I’ve been going through my process and doing my best to understand my feelings about it. I’m devastated and I hate feeling like a disappointment to you, but I have to focus on recovery right now.

“There is nothing more I want to do than perform for you and also get back to doing what fulfills me most – BEING ON STAGE.

“Thank you so much for understanding. Sending my love to BET for giving me and all the other beautiful black women this opportunity. This is definitely NOT how I envisioned this weekend, but you better believe I’ll be sticking up for everyone at home tonight.” “

“I’m so sorry, guys, and I love you so much,” she concluded.

Normani did not share any further details about her injury, but did post a photo of it.

She shared a photo that showed her using crutches to walk.

Her knee was bandaged and she was wearing a boot.

Fans gathered in a music-focused online thread to discuss the devastating news.

Quinta Harmonia albums

Fifth Harmony was among the most popular girl groups in the world. The band featured Camila Cabello, Ally Brooke, Lauren Jauregui, Dinah Jane and Normani Kordei. They went on an indefinite hiatus in March 2018 and have never reunited. Here are the albums they released together:

  • Reflection (2015)
  • Fifth Harmony (2017)
  • 07/27 (2016)
  • Better Together (2013)
  • Together (2013)

Several expressed disappointment, while others were supportive of Normani.

“Wow, this woman has been having a hard time lately,” one person posted.

“She can’t catch a break. It must be very frustrating”, commented another.

“Damn, that sucks because it was something she needed. I hope there are more opportunities for her to perform soon,” another shared.

“No shade, if I were Normani after all the beatings she has received over the last 6 years and will continue to receive, I would be in a wheelchair on that stage doing somersaults,” wrote a fourth fan.

“A Normani performance would have eaten. All good. Next time,” posted another.

ALBUM QUESTIONS

The news of Normani’s performance cancellation comes after the release of her first solo album, Dopamine.

Fans waited years for the album to be released, but it underperformed on the charts, as noted by Forbes.

Normani’s first full-length solo album debuted on the Billboard 200 at #91.

The album sold just over 12,000 equivalent units in its first full track frame.

Only 2,000 of those were pure purchases, according to Luminate.

With these numbers, Normani’s album cannot reach the Top Album Sales chart, which only has 50 spots.

His album is the week’s 10th lowest debut on the Billboard 200.

Normani has had some success as a solo artist.

She scored her first hit in 2018, partnering with Khalid for Love Lies.

The song reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

In 2019, she again had major success with Dancing With a Stranger, recorded with Sam Smith, and her own song, Motivation.

The only Dopamine song to reach the Hot 100 was Wild Side, which features Cardi B.

The song reached number 14 in 2021.

This is just the latest in a long string of bad luck.

In May, Normani was mocked and accused of running her own fan account.
