The Bachelor debuted in 2002, and Jesse Palmer was one of its first stars after appearing on the show during its fifth season.
After weeks of romance, the former NFL player from Toronto, Ontario, chose 22-year-old Jessica Bowlin, a student from Huntington Beach, California, as the winner.
Despite being the season’s winner, Palmer, who was 25 at the time, decided not to propose and instead gave her a plane ticket to New York so she could see him.
“All of this to me is like a dream,” Palmer told Bowlin during the 2004 Final Rose Ceremony.

“And tomorrow morning I will wake up from this dream into the real world. But I don’t want to wake up tomorrow morning if I can’t wake up with you.”
He continued, “I’m not ready to propose to you tonight. I think we need more time to grow and learn about each other.”
Bowlin said she didn’t “need” a proposal and just wanted to “hang out” with him.

After the fifth season finale, Palmer and Bowlin dated, but ended their relationship soon after.
The two reportedly split a month after their finale aired, making their relationship one of the shortest in Bachelor history.
“Jessica and I shared an incredible romantic journey on the show that began with a friendship that remains strong to this day. We simply realize that, individually, our next steps take us in different directions,” Palmer said in June 2004, after the split.
Bowlin later married Omar Ravi in 2013.

Jesse Palmer is married to Brazilian model Emely Fardo.
She has also jumped behind the camera and often posts her food and wedding photos on Instagram.
Before Jesse popped the question in 2019, he met Emely at a boxing class in 2017.
In photos of the proposal shared on his Instagram, Jesse said: “You said ‘yes’. I’m so lucky to finally call you my fiancé.
“I asked for an angel to be brought into my life… and it was you.”
Although they initially wanted to get married in France, their plans were thwarted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Instead, they exchanged their vows in an intimate ceremony in Connecticut on July 5, 2020.
On January 10, 2024, Jesse announced on Instagram that Emely gave birth to her first child, a daughter.
