Justin has been facing criminal charges since yesterday following an arrest on Friday.

Prosecutors allege he physically assaulted his 24-year-old girlfriend and threatened her with a gun last week in Minnesota.

According to CBS Newsthe argument started after Justin said “they wouldn’t go to a music festival anymore.”

The criminal complaint also says Justin allegedly pointed a gun at her, saying, “Don’t come back here or I’ll shoot you.”

At the height of the altercation, allegations detail that Justin allegedly strangled his girlfriend and hit her with said gun.

Before things could get worse, his girlfriend called 911 stating that Justin choked her and was threatening to evict her.

At the time, no arrests were made and Justin’s name was not mentioned “because she didn’t want to get anyone in trouble.”

She told the officers present that she and Justin “disagreed about something stupid.”

The incident allegedly escalated and Justin was arrested and charged with one count of criminal threats of violence.

He has since been released and was instructed to turn over any firearms to authorities within 24 hours.

CHEF’S DENIAL

After the arrest, Justin’s lawyer, John Daily, said the complaint “is full of falsehoods” and denied the allegations.

Justin Sutherland Career

Justin Sutherland has a long culinary experience.

  • Justin took cooking classes at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts.
  • In 2016, Justin opened his restaurant Handsome Hog in his hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota.
  • In 2018, Justin won the 13th season of Iron Chef.
  • The following year, Justin competed on the 16th season of Top Chef.
  • In 2021, Justin joined Kristen Kish as co-host of TruTV’s Fast Foodies.
  • In 2021, Justin hosted his own show Taste the Culture with Justin Sutherland.
  • That same year, he participated in Guy Fieri’s Tournament of Champions.

“Mr. Sutherland vehemently denies all allegations in the complaint,” John told People.

“He never threatened to shoot anyone.

“He did not physically assault his girlfriend. He hopes the truth will come out as the legal process unfolds.”

His lawyer also mentioned, “The relationship was coming to an end,” which allegedly prompted the complaints.

If Justin is found guilty, the charge carries a maximum of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.

NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE

In 2021, the culinary TV personality was in a boating accident that left him with serious injuries.

Justin was boating with friends in Minnesota when he fell into the water trying to retrieve his hat and landed very close to the engine.

At the time, a GoFundMe the account detailed the event saying “the propeller did a number on his head and left arm.”

Justin was also left with a broken arm and a “severely broken” jaw.

Top Chef underwent several surgeries as a result of the accident and has since recovered.

In total, the GoFundMe page raised $287,673 of the $500,000 goal for medical bills.
