Speaking on his Let’s Be Clear podcast at the end of June, Doherty said the molecular structure of his cancer cells had recently changed.

The update comes after Doherty revealed his cancer had spread to his bones and brain last year.

The Charmed star said there were “a lot more protocols for her to try,” adding that she was feeling “hopeful.”

Doherty said she wasn’t sure how much chemotherapy she would need in the coming months, noting it wasn’t something she or her doctors could predict.

Doherty then mentioned the positive aspect of his altered cells, which would allow him to receive more treatment options.

“So, you know, probably for the first time in a few months, I feel hopeful because there are so many more protocols now,” she explained.

“Whereas before I was hopeful, but I was still preparing.”

After initially being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, Doherty lost her years-long battle with the disease on Saturday.

“I think I would be afraid of death if I weren’t a good person, but I am,” she explained.
