NETFLIX fans were disappointed with the news that Jamie Lee Curtis will not play Doctor Kureha in One Piece.

In March 2023, the actress responded to fans’ calls for her to appear on the show, tagging the streaming platform on social media.

Tomorrow Studios president Becky Clements confirmed that Jamie, 65, will not be part of the show in an interview with Deadline.

“She loves the show. She has a lot of movies and TV shows in production, so our production dates won’t work,” Becky explained.

“She definitely wanted to do it, but she has business in the top position and it got complicated.”

Jamie is currently filming Freaky Friday 2, the sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday, as well as other projects.

The actress made it clear that she is a huge fan of One Piece, which is a live-action version of a manga.

She spoke about the show in 2016 during a Q&A at San Diego Comic Con.

At the time, she revealed that if she were to become any character on a TV show, she would like to be Nico Robin, the Straw Hat’s resident archaeologist.

His comments came several years before One Piece debuted on Netflix.

The news that Jamie will not appear on the show hit fans especially hard after showrunner Matt Owens said in another interview with Deadline that they were writing the Doctor Kureha character “for her.”

“MAN, F**K”, exclaimed a disappointed fan on X, formerly Twitter.

Freaky Friday cast, where are they now as Lindsay Lohan, Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray and more begin filming the sequel

“It was a perfect cast,” said another supporter.

“Damn, I always imagine the JLC as my Chopper’s witch’s bag,” complained a third fan.

“Well this is unfortunate,” wrote another upset supporter.

Freaky Friday 2 Cast

More information has been revealed about the highly anticipated Freaky Friday 2.

Here’s to everyone returning to the Disney comedy.

  • Lindsay Lohan (Anna Coleman)
  • Jamie Lee Curtis (Tess Coleman)
  • Mark Hamon (Ryan)
  • Chad Michael Murray (Jake)
  • Haley Hudson (Peg)
  • Christina Vidal Mitchell (Maddie)
  • Stephen Tobolowsky (Mr. Bates)
  • Rosalind Chao (Pei-Pei)
  • Lucille Soong (Pei-Pei’s mother)

“NOOOOOO,” shouted a fifth fan.

GETTING CRAZIER

Jamie’s filming schedule is extremely busy at the moment as she is working on Freaky Friday 2.

Earlier this month, she shocked fans with her unrecognizable appearance on the set of the film.

Jamie ditched her short, gray hairstyle in favor of longer braids that touched her shoulders.

She was seen leaving her trailer, where she waited for a car to take her to the filming location.

She wore black pants and a black cardigan.

Filming for Freaky Friday 2 began at the end of June, and the film is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

In 2023, she spoke to The New York Times about when she knew a sequel to the Disney film was needed.

“As I traveled the world with Halloween Ends, people wanted to know if there would be another Freaky Friday,” she told the newspaper.

“Something really struck a chord. When I came back, I called my friends like Disney and said, ‘It looks like there’s a movie in the making.'”

Freaky Friday is a remake of the 1976 film of the same name.

The film follows Jamie’s character, Tess Coleman, and her daughter Anna (Lindsay Lohan), who switch bodies.

The pair must learn to adapt, surviving in each other’s bodies and lives without anyone noticing as they try to reverse the curse.

TRUE FRIENDS

Jamie and Lindsay, 38, are close on and off camera.

Lindsay announced that she will return to Freaky Friday 2 as Anna Coleman and spoke even more about the show with Good Morning America.

She said she felt “blessed” to have Jamie in her life.

“It’s going to be a really weird Friday,” Lindsay joked.

“Much weirder than you’d expect.”

Of her friendship with Jamie, she said: “Jamie and I have kept in touch over the years.

“They always say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close to, if you don’t get to see them for years and years, but when you see them again, it’s like you were never apart.”

Jamie also praised Lindsay in The New York Times.

“Lindsay was as fluid as I was,” Jamie said.

“If you look at The Parent Trap, she has an acting skill that is really impressive.

“It was a great job. It was a great production. And our relationship was very easy.”
