CYNTHIA Nixon caused a stir with the contents of her plate.
On Friday, the And Just Like That… actress received backlash from animal rights activists after posting a photo of her lobster dinner.

In the photo, Cynthia, 58, appears posing with her meal in the outdoor area of a seafood restaurant.
The Sex and the City star smiled warmly at the camera with her fiery red hair pulled back as the coastline, complete with boat docks and other seaside paraphernalia, filled the background.
In front of her, a boiled lobster sat on her plate, along with corn on the cob, with squares of butter packed in its meaty claws.
Cynthia captioned the post: “When your lobster brings its own side of butter.”

Although the actress appeared to be making a light-hearted joke about her seafood dish, fans in the comments section of the post didn’t find the consumption or preparation of the crustacean all that funny.
PETA, or People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, wrote: “There is nothing funny about killing, eating and mocking an individual.
“Lobsters, like dogs, cats and humans, feel pain. Please leave them off your plate and where they belong – in the sea.”
“Lobsters are sentient beings and are alive when they are boiled. Super cruel”, commented another.
A third person wrote: “Lobsters are literally boiled to death. How can you post this and encourage people to support animal cruelty.”
“Ironic, you care so much about human life, but you don’t care when it comes to other living beings? Do better,” scolded a fourth.

Another added: “I love you Cynthia, but I wish you and the entire world would wake up to this animal torture and stop… the same way we ask for all other types of oppression to stop.”
One surprised commenter exclaimed: “Oh no!!! I never thought you would actually eat one.”
They questioned, “Do you know how they die?” before adding: “It is the cruelest of deaths!!! I ask you to learn about it. You will see [lobsters] in a whole new way. Let’s practice care and compassion.”
“Lobsters can feel pain and fear. I hope you widen your circle of compassion. You have a big heart and a big brain. I hope you consider uplifting all sentient beings in your work for justice,” a second commented.
“This is cruel, clueless and makes you seem incredibly out of touch. I’m sad for the lobster and embarrassed for you,” criticized a third.
Further down in the comments, one person wrote: “Genuinely insane comments section. Looks delicious”.
LOVE LIFE
Cynthia is prominently recognized for her portrayal of Miranda Hobbes on the hit HBO series Sex and the City.
Christine is an activist originally from Bainbridge Island, Washington.
In the 1990s, Christine moved to New York to pursue a degree in economic development at Columbia University.
Her initial idea was to work on international affairs, but she quickly took a different path when she co-founded the Alliance for Quality Education.
She continued her long activism work over the years when she came out as a lesbian in 1995.
Soon after, she opened a coffee shop in Brooklyn that catered to the LGBTQ community.
Speaking with New York City and StateChristine said: “As an LGBTQ person, I have always focused on big picture issues.
“I think it’s important for the LGBT community to join hands with other groups and issues like income inequality and education.”
In addition to her longtime activism, Christine also worked as a senior advisor in former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio’s office.
CYNTIA AND CRISTINA
Christine and Cynthia got engaged in 2009 during a gay marriage rally in New York.
The couple started dating in 2004.
Before dating Christine, Cynthia had never been with a woman.
Speaking with Radio timesCynthia reportedly said: “When we first started seeing each other, Christine kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, for me to panic about what this would mean – for my career or for myself – as if somehow I just hadn’t realized it. she was a woman.
“And then she met my mom and that’s when she stopped worrying about it.”
After years of dating and engagement, the two said “I do” on May 27, 2012, after same-sex marriage was legalized in New York City.
Over the course of their relationship, the two welcomed a son named Max on February 7, 2011.
