Simone Biles smiles as Team USA triumphs in women’s team final

Simone Biles has once again ascended to the pinnacle of gymnastics, leading Team USA heading for gold in the women’s team gymnastics final at the 2024 Paris Olympics on Tuesday.

Biles is now the most decorated Historic North American Olympic gymnast, with eight medals (five of them gold) to her name. The US Women’s Gymnastics Team – Biles, Sunisa “Suni” Lee, Jordan Chiles, Jade Carey and newcomer Hezly Rivera (who did not compete in Tuesday’s final) – they are now the fourth US team to win an Olympic gold medal.

After facing significant challenges at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, including a struggle with sprains that led to her dropping out mid-competition, Biles returned this year with a mission to win gold, jokingly calling Paris “the team”redemption” tour after they took home silver in Tokyo.

It was a thrilling victory on Tuesday. Despite a small setback when Chiles fell from the balance beam, team morale remained high.
