There is no known cure for ALS, a fatal motor neuron disease that causes progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain.

On August 6, 2023, Bryan died after a three-year battle with the disease.

In a statement shared with PeopleHis family said Bryan “chose early on to keep his journey with ALS private,” adding that “those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request.”

Losing Bryan “was one of the hardest experiences Sandra has gone through,” the source revealed.

WELCOME (BACK) TO HOLLYWOOD

After spending time grieving for her late partner and shifting her focus primarily to raising her children, Sandra is ready to return to work.

“Sandra missed acting,” the first source shared, adding that she “values working with longtime friends in the industry.”

In May, Sandra appeared on 50 MPH, a podcast centered around her 1994 box office hit Speed.

She revealed that she would love to reunite with her former co-star, Keanu Reeves.

“Before I die, before I leave this planet, I think Keanu and I need to do something in front of the cameras,” Sandra said.

Keanu, who also appeared on the podcast, confirmed that he would “love” to work with Sandra again.

“I would love to work with you again before our eyes close. We would kill it,” he said.

While there’s still no word on a potential Speed 3, Sandra is teaming up with another famous face in an upcoming film.

She will star alongside Nicole Kidman in a sequel to her 1998 romantic fantasy film Practical Magic.

Despite the original film’s mixed reviews and lukewarm box office earnings, it has since become a cult favorite.

“Sandra is very excited about Practical Magic 2,” a third source shared with Us weekly.

“Nicole is someone she adores and can’t wait to spend more time with.”

And if balancing family life with returning to the screen wasn’t enough, Sandra is still “slowly healing, keeping Bryan’s memory alive and focusing on her children,” according to the first source.

However, she is also keeping her options open – and is “open to the possibility” of dating again in the future.
