DON Lemon revealed some of his famous friends were upset they didn’t get an invite to his star-studded wedding in an exclusive interview with The US Sun.
Don, 58, married Tim Malone, 40, on Saturday, April 6, in New York City at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church.
A wedding reception followed at Polo Bar, a chic restaurant by designer Ralph Lauren that offers guests a private dining experience.
Although many stars were seen gathering at the venue for the special ceremony, some famous people did not make the VIP list, according to the groom himself.
“It was a small wedding because the Polo Bar isn’t a large venue and we wanted to have our reception at the location of our first date, so we couldn’t invite everyone,” Don told The US Sun while attending the NYC Second Chance Rescue 4th Annual Ball. Rescue on April 17th.
“And some people are upset, but we invited family and people we love most in the world,” he continued.

“It was really important that they celebrated our love and our togetherness.”
Even though his wedding made headlines because of all the celebrities who attended, the CNN alum said the ceremony wasn’t about having big names there, it was more about celebrating his and Tim’s marriage and the “commitment and love” with each other.
“We had everyone, almost everyone who is very close to us,” he added.
Guests included Luann De Lesseps, Matt Lauer and his girlfriend Shamin Abas, Clive Davis, Darren Star, Tamron Hall, Alec Baldwin and his wife Hilaria.
Most of The View’s hosts also attended, including Joy Behar and her husband Steve Janowitz, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin and her husband Emmanuel.
Linda Thomas Greenfield, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, served as officiant.
INSIDE THE FÊTE
The journalist explained his close friendships and why the people who made the guest list were so special to him.
“Luann is our neighbor in Sag Harbor. She lives a few streets away from us and is a friend.
“Joy Behar lives close to us. Sunny, who I worked with at CNN – her office was across from me. Sara Haines [and Tim] worked together on the Page Program at NBC,” argued Don.
When asked who got down on the dance floor, he joked: “Guys! I’ve never seen so many people dancing at a wedding.
“I’m not kidding. And the DJ was fantastic, Tokyo Rose. She’s fabulous. Everyone was dancing.”
Don went on to say that when it came to over-the-top wedding gifts, he said they didn’t ask for gifts and instead asked guests to donate to the Southampton Animal Shelter.
However, they got “very expensive” glasses from someone special.
“Someone sent us the most beautiful wine glasses you’ve ever seen and the most beautiful candlesticks you’ve ever seen,” said an emotional Don.
“We were shocked when we received them. And they are very expensive!”
FAMILY OF FIVE
Joining Don and the real estate agent at their intimate wedding were their three little dogs, which they rescued from the Southampton Animal Shelter.
“People ask us what breed and we say, ‘We don’t know them, we don’t care because we rescued them,’” Don told The US Sun while supporting Second chance rescuea non-profit organization that helps save thousands of dogs and cats.
The event was held at Sony Hall in New York and honored Jenny Mollen, Jason Biggs and Wayne Schumer with the Angel & Hero Award for their dedication to animal welfare.
“Anything to support animals, especially dogs,” Don continued. “We love animals and I’m here to support.”
When asked if he and Tim plan to expand their brood and rescue more pets, they joked that they already have a few, especially living with “three dogs in the city.”
