GOOD Morning America host George Stephanopoulos and his wife Ali Wentworth opened up about a new habit they picked up.
The couple was going through difficult times at first but now they are coming to terms with it.
George, 63, and Ali, 59, became empty nesters last fall when their youngest daughter, Harper, went off to college.
At first, they went through difficult times, but little by little they realized the advantages of not having children around.
During a red carpet event for the 35th Annual Colleagues Spring Luncheon and Fall 2024 Collection Fashion Show at the Beverly Wilshire in California, Ali spoke with People about this transformative moment in her and the GMA host’s lives.
She is on the board of Fireworks Foundationwhich helps children from underserved communities find joy in art.

When discussing these children, Ali talked about her own – Elliott, 21, and Harper, 18.
“We were traumatized at first and now it’s fun,” she said.
“We are young and in love again.”
The actress went on to say that they got married young and were never childless because she got pregnant after nine months.
“So we’re loving it,” Ali said.
George and Ali discovered that they have the freedom to do whatever they want.
“It’s more like, ‘Hey, we can watch whatever we want on TV. We can have dinner whenever we want. We could walk around naked if we wanted,” Ali said.
“It’s very liberating.”
POOR JORGE!
In August, Ali shared a photo of George and Harper on Instagram.
She also shared another photo of her and George walking hand in hand as they walked away from their “baby,” who they just dropped off at college.

“We dropped our baby off at college. Everyone is saying ‘she’s ready for release’!” Ali captioned the post.
“But… I don’t think I’m ready! I don’t want to stop making pasta with vodka sauce, reaching for wet towels, embracing her familiar scent.”
“As Joni Mitchell once wrote – “the bed is too big, the frying pan is too wide.” I know our daughter will thrive. be under my covers”, she concluded.
About a week later, Ali shared that they were dealing with the grief of being an empty nester.
“To help deal with the pain of being an empty nester, I made George dress like it was his first day of school at an all-boys elementary school…” she captioned the post.
FATHER-DAUGHTER DAY
Despite having empty nesters, George and Ali enjoy it when their kids come home from college.
Last month, George spent some time with his oldest daughter, Elliott.
He left the New York office for special reporting in London.
During the GMA broadcast, George reported on Princess Kate and Prince William following their cancer diagnosis.
He also shared an interview he gave to the parents of WSJ reporter Evan Gershkovich, a year after his arrest.
Before sending the show back to his co-hosts, George revealed he had a surprise for everyone.
“Hey guys, before you go, I have a special PA here in London today,” George joked. “My daughter Elliott!”
Michael Strahan, Robin Roberts and anchor Rebecca Jarvis smiled as Elliott shyly appeared on screen.
“[She] is studying here, so I was here on spring break,” George told his classmates.
George hugged his daughter as she waved shyly at the camera.
Elliott quickly walked off camera as the host joked, “Oh no, she got shy really fast.”
After George called her out, Elliott returned to the screen and gave another wave and a proper hello.
“I decided to put her to work today,” concluded George.
