KELLY Clarkson has been called a bully by fans of her talk show following her interaction with Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo.
The American Idol alum seemed to struggle with the vocalist’s subdued style.
Kelly welcomed the alternative band to The Kelly Clarkson Show to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their groundbreaking The Blue Album.
But the connection between the 42-year-old and Rivers was clearly out of tune.
Kelly laughed and talked about her love for the band while jumping on the couch.
Actress Brooke Shields, another guest on the show, matched Kelly’s intensity.
Rivers, however, is notoriously introverted and sat calmly on the couch, looking uncomfortable.
While trying to calm down, Kelly appeared to tease Rivers about his quietness.
“I love that your energy is so opposite to mine,” Kelly scoffed at one point. “Even in your response, you said ‘Thank you,'” she said mocking his subdued voice.
After prodding him further, Kelly sarcastically said, “I really want to host a show with you.”
CRINGE WORTHY
Fans, however, winced at their interaction – and at the overwhelming Kelly.
“I love you Kelly, but the feeling I’m getting is that he felt uncomfortable and intimidated,” one person commented online. “I think it was disrespectful.”
“I feel like HE FEELS like you’re making fun of him AND I DON’T LOVE IT,” another shot back.
“It seems like he didn’t quite understand the humor,” observed a third, before adding: “I thought it was a little rude.”
While one person simply begged: “Kelly, damn, let him talk.”
SERIOUS SEINFELD
Not every guest is afraid to criticize Kelly for her authoritarian approach.
I love that your energy is so opposite to mine.”
Kelly ClarksonAddressing Rivers Cuomo
Earlier this month, comedian Jerry Seinfeld was amused to see Kelly, who had already taken an allergy pill, gleefully butcher her introduction.
“Kelly… Look, Claritin isn’t that strong,” joked the comedian during the interview.
Kelly explained that she moved to New York for her talk show and that her allergies were severe and described them as “different.”
Jerry told Kelly that she was an HSP, which stands for a highly sensitive person – which the star agreed with.
He then questioned, “What else are you doing right now? Because you’re really going crazy!”
Previously, Kelly confessed that she was feeling a little strange.
“So I’m going to be real. I took a Claritin,” she stated, discussing how severe her allergies were. “I knew Benadryl and Mucinex were bad for me.”
The pop singer continued: “I can’t take certain allergy medications because it makes me crazy.
“How people [will] I think I’m high. So I got a different one. It turns out the same situation. “So, it’s a really weird show, but I promise I can read.”
