Whit shared a photo of herself behind David’s desk while filming the pre-recorded show, which airs tonight.

“Holiday duty…happy 4th !” the GMA star captioned the Instagram post on Wednesday.

“Proud of you, Mr. Johnson. Believe that one day the table will be yours”, commented a fan.

“I just love you Whit!! So professional yet funny!!” another added.

“It looks good on you, Whit! The hardest worker in the room,” posted a third.

Whit returned to the screen Thursday morning for GMA.

Rebecca Jarvis replaced Robin Roberts and Gio Benitez took Michael Strahan’s place at the morning show table.

Sam Champion was still on hand to provide viewers with the weather forecast.

There was a big change on the table last week when George took several days off following the death of his father, Reverend Robert George Stephanopoulos.

Reverend Robert died on June 19th.

George missed the show for a week, came back for a day, and left again.

The TV anchor’s wife Ali Wentworth shared the devastating news of Robert’s death on Instagram.

“He was my father-in-law and I loved him very much. He married us,” she wrote.

“He laughed with us. He debated with our daughters. He praised my Thanksgiving turkey.”

Good Morning America Anchors

Good Morning America airs on ABC from 7am to 9am EST, Monday through Friday. The program features a panel of anchors who discuss the week’s events and current news. Anchors appearing on the morning show include:

The comedian added that he was “very respected” and “will be missed by many”.

The reverend’s funeral was held in Ohio on June 26, according to his obituary.

Fellow GMA host Michael also skipped the show following his daughter’s cancer diagnosis.

In October 2023, the former NFL star revealed that his daughter Isabella was battling medulloblastoma.

She underwent emergency surgery to remove a golf ball-sized mass from her brain.

He regularly skipped the show to be by his daughter’s side.
