LIVE’s Mark Consuelos talked about the challenges of co-hosting the daytime show with his wife, Kelly Ripa.
The actor appeared as a guest on Kelly’s podcast Let’s Talk Off Camera – a year after becoming her permanent co-host.
During Wednesday episodeMark, 53, reflected on how much simpler it was being a guest co-host on the talk show compared to his job now.
The All My Children alum has often become Kelly’s right-hand man over the years when her co-host was unavailable.
He officially took over the role after Kelly’s former co-host of six years, Ryan Seacrest, 49, left last April.
Mark explained that before he got the job, he used to let Kelly, 53, take the reins and do a lot less talking.

Although he has since taken on more responsibilities, he admitted that he still lets his wife take the lead when the cameras are rolling.
“I still don’t ask a lot of questions,” the Riverdale star confessed, referring to guest interviews.
Kelly disagreed and assured her husband that he plays an equal role when they are on air.
“This is not true. This is so false. [It’s] in your mind,” said the former soap opera star.
But Mark wasn’t convinced and admitted he regularly makes mistakes during live shows.
“I still make mistakes almost every day. I messed up something,” the TV star revealed.
He then joked that he waits for the audience to clap to drown out his mistakes.
“Once I got into the game, it became twice as challenging,” concluded Mark about joining the ABC show full-time.
Mark’s first official day as co-host was April 17, 2023.
Kelly’s friend Ali Wentworth, 58, previously told The US Sun it was unlikely the Hope & Faith star would co-host the show with anyone else after Mark, hinting at her plans to retire.

The actress has presented the show for over 22 years, initially alongside former Live presenter Regis Philbin.
Mark addressed rumors in September that Kelly would soon leave the daytime show during a meeting with Entertainment tonight.
“I think it’s a real thing,” Mark told the outlet. “She’s been at this for 23 years.”
“I don’t think it will be anytime soon. I know she’s having fun, I’m having a really, really good time. But at some point, yes,” the TV personality added.
Mark praised his wife for her hard work ethic, saying: “When she decides to leave, no one deserves it more than her.
“She’s been working hard since she was 12 or 13 years old and got into the business at 18, so it’s been a long journey. [But] She’s having so much fun right now.”
Kelly also once joked that she and Mark are looking forward to retiring and enjoying their time as an empty nester now that their three sons, Michael, 26; Lola, 22; and Joaquin, 20, are out and about.
