CW fans flooded social media with concern after the network announced the extension of one show while ignoring another.

The drama series All American has officially been renewed for a sixth season and they’ve added two extra episodes, bringing it up to 15 instead of 13.

The CW runs a popular show called Walker starring former Supernatural star, Jared Padalecki.

The show, which follows a widowed father who returns to his hometown to reconnect with his children, has become a fan favorite.

Deadline officially released the news that the All American extension has been confirmed.

In the show, protagonists Spencer James, played by Daniel Ezra, and Jordan Baker, played by Michael Evans Behling, head to the NFL draft.

While some fans were delighted by the news, others were upset that The CW didn’t mention whether Walker was renewed for another season.

“This makes me so disappointed in the network, that even the most watched show, through no fault of its own, is on the bubble to not be renewed,” wrote one fan on X, formerly Twitter.

“#Walker deserves to be able to tell his story, clearly people are watching and invested. If this show is, I’m done on the CW.”

“It would be an absolute mistake for The C.W. not renew #Walker – their most viewed series – by miles,” added another.

“#Walker’ is the most watched series on the C.W.‘ for a reason. I hope @TheCW and @CBSTVStudios know how hard we will fight for this show and the wonderful cast and crew who put all their hearts into it,” said a third.

“Letters, emails, petitions? Alright, come on. They deserve a renewal.”

“They are warning us that The C.W. let’s cancel everything”, speculated a fifth.

Deadline said that Walker and another CW hit, Superman & Lois, are both filmed in the US, which makes them much more expensive to produce.

CBS also owns shares of Walker, which increases the price of CW.

RESISTANT PATCH

Deadline states that running these seasons together will be a “very challenging business proposition.”

CW entertainment president Brad Schwartz made a hopeful comment at TCA in February.

“CBS and Warner Bros. have been wonderful working with us on these shows and we’ve taken both shows into an economic area where as long as they maintain the ratings, there’s no reason we can’t keep them,” he said.

“It’s no longer a financial issue, it’s a creative and performance issue.”

[It would be a] very challenging business proposal.

Deadline

It appears that The CW tried to cut costs wherever possible as it expanded its business plan.

In November 2022, Texas-based Nexstar Media Group acquired 70% of The CW.

After the decision, many executives and directors joined Warner Brothers.

There has been no official confirmation as to whether Walker will return or be cancelled.
