Who is Fiona Harvey?

Fiona Harvey, from Fyvie, Aberdeenshire, rose to prominence following claims by armchair detectives that she was the ‘real Martha’ in Baby Reindeer.

After weeks of speculation, the Scot said she met comedian Richard Gadd years ago when he was a bartender at The Hawley Arms in Camden, London.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, she admitted to having befriended him but denied ever stalking him.

As for how she discovered Baby Reindeer, Fiona said she first became aware of it when Richard took him to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as a one-man show.

She said: “He created a character called Martha and put me in the picture.

“This is a program for 20-somethings. People without a life, without a job, whatever. I don’t want to be a celebrity.”

What to do if you suspect you are being stalked

Tony Neate, CEO of Get Safe Online, told Sun Online: “Perpetrators often obtain details about you through online information about personal and financial affairs, social and professional life, relationships and your location.

As a starting point, make sure only minimal information about you is available online and take stalking seriously.

Report it before it has serious effects on you and others, and keep a record of everything that happens to gather evidence while it is happening.

What did Richard Gadd say?

Richard Gadd spoke about how important it was for him to address the difficult themes highlighted in the autobiographical series.

“When a man is pursued, it can be portrayed in films and television as sexy. Like a femme fatale that gradually becomes more sinister,” he said The times.

He continued: “It does not carry as much threat of physical violence, it is less common and can be trivialized.

“I was physically scared because I didn’t know how much she could take.”

He admitted that some elements of the show were dramatized to create additional suspense.

However, Richard also asked viewers not to look for the real-life woman who made his life so uncomfortable.

He also stated that he went to great lengths to hide the identity of the woman who stalked him in real life.

On social media, Richard wrote: “People I love, worked with and admire… are unfairly being caught up in speculation.

“Please don’t speculate about who any of the real-life people could be. That’s not the point of our show. Lots of love, Richard.”
