The latest NCIS show, NCIS: Origins, is set to air this fall and is set from 1991, according to TV line.

The prequel show will take viewers back to the early days of protagonist Leroy Jethro Gibbs, who was played by Michael Harmon in the original and will now be played by Austin Stowell.

However, fans were left heartbroken by NCIS Hawai’i’s emotional ending and begged the producers to continue the show.

The finale saw Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant, played by Vanessa Lachey, expecting to find her daughter at home, but instead had a threatening encounter with a face from the past on her couch.

Fans demanded to know what happened next in history, but CBS has been busy promoting Origins, with calls to revamp Hawaii ignored.

‘BITE ME’

On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans called for the franchise to bring Hawaii back, and many vowed not to watch Origins.

“…I loved you CBS (for having positive representation) but then you betrayed me with Origins and the other show,” one person raged.

“Obviously, the people behind the cancellation of this series have a heart of stone that they still haven’t done anything to bring this great show back! We don’t need NCIS Origins this fall! We want this incredible cast back to give us a proper ending ! ” a second agreed.

“Will we watch NCIS Origins or another NCIS Europe? No. You’ll find out the hard way that you must save #SaveNCISHawaii,” promised a third social media user.

“CBS is really replacing NCIS: Hawai’i, a female-led show with a diverse cast, with a show like NCIS: Origins. Talk about the relegation of the century”, criticized another fan.

“Again with the NCIS: Origins promo?!?!? So disrespectful at every turn. Bite me, CBS,” said a fifth.

“I’ve watched every NCIS show since the beginning and #NCISHawaii is without a doubt the most fun, with a fantastic cast and crew! Canceling for origins… Dumbest decision ever!” one final commenter wrote.

CAST APPLY BACK

Along with fan opinions, the cast of NCIS: Hawai’i also spoke openly about the cancellation.

Vanessa posted on her Instagram Stories after the Newsand made it clear that she was “gutted” about not returning to her role.

I’m having a really hard time processing this one. Thank you to our amazing team who made every day feel like I was living a dream.

I want to thank all the fans. My heart breaks for you too. This is a huge loss of representation. I love you all.

The television star also added that she was “confused [and] taken by surprise” by the sudden decision.

“Processing this news and still being present with my family. I love you all!” she admitted.

Vanessa wasn’t the only cast member to hint that she disagreed with the show’s cancellation.

Tori Anderson, who played FBI Agent Kate Whistler didn’t hold back when writing about the X decision.

“I’m having a really hard time processing this. Thank you to our amazing team who made every day feel like I was living a dream.

“I want to thank all the fans. My heart breaks for you too. This is a huge loss of representation. I love you all so much,” she wrote.
