YOUNG Sheldon is officially over after airing the series finale on Thursday night.
The Big Bang Theory spin-off concluded with back-to-back episodes, but eagle-eyed fans noticed a major error in the broadcast of the big finale.
Starring Iain Armitage as a young version of Big Bang Theory’s Sheldon Cooper, the CBS sitcom debuted in 2017.
The show began its farewell tour earlier this year as its seventh and final season began in February.
The 14-episode season concluded Thursday with the final two episodes airing back-to-back, titled Funeral and Memoir, respectively.
As it was the show’s last broadcast, fans couldn’t believe it when they realized a huge mistake.

Co-created by Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro, the former shared a note to viewers at the end of each episode throughout the show, as he did on many of his other shows.
Under the banner of Chuck Lorre Productions, a personalized card with a message to fans would appear after the credits ended.
Since the hour-long finale was technically two episodes, a different custom card was to be displayed at the end of each half-hour broadcast.
Many confused fans realized this didn’t happen.
POWERFUL MIXING
In certain places the same clip and preview note appeared after both episodes
This confused many viewers as they didn’t understand why a promo for another new episode of the show was being shown at the end of the last episode.
They also expected to read a new message from the creator, rather than the same one they had read 30 minutes earlier.

The note for episode 13 of 14 said:
“Part of the heartache of this story is that it reminds me of how I took my father for granted. How I was so caught up in myself that I didn’t see what was right in front of me. A hardworking, kind and generous man. A man who loved to laugh. A man who was very fond of Sheldon’s father, who was simply doing the best he could. Forgive me if this sounds selfish (damn, it’s my vanity card), but the final words of this episode are worth repeating. ‘I loved my father. I will miss him forever.'”
This same note aired again after episode 14 of 14 for some viewers.
FAN CONFUSION
“CBS aired the wrong credits, preview, and Chuck Lorre card at the end of the Young Sheldon finale…this is embarrassing,” one viewer tweeted, explaining what happened to the others.

Others revealed that the personalized card and correct credits were shown in some locations.
“That’s not what I saw on the west coast,” one fan shared.
“I think CBS corrected the West Coast version after it aired on the East Coast,” another explained.
“CTV Canada got it right, but not CBS,” revealed a viewer from Canada.
“It seems like a problem unique to CBS. I just watched the one on CTV (Canada) and they were like ‘gratitude’”, agreed another Canadian fan.
CBS announced late last year that Young Sheldon would end with its seventh season.
In March, the network ordered a new spinoff series focusing on two characters from the series, Georgie and Mandy.
The show will premiere later this year as part of CBS’ fall 2024 lineup.
