CW fans have begun to worry that one of the network’s most beloved shows will soon be canceled.
Walker, starring Jared Padalecki, is currently in its fourth season, and CW boss Brad Schwartz recently opened up about its future.
After 15 seasons starring as Dean Winchester on The CW’s Supernatural, Jared began playing Texas Ranger Cordell Walker on Walker in 2021.
The 4th season of the series, which follows Walker’s personal and professional life as a forest ranger, is currently airing.
Although the new batch of episodes only started last month, fans have already started to worry that there won’t be a Season 5.
The show has yet to be renewed or canceled, and network bosses have shared in new interviews that its fate is still up in the air.
Cancellation fears began when neither Walker nor another popular CW show, All American, were on the network’s recently announced fall 2024 lineup.
CW bosses Dennis Miller and the aforementioned Brad explained the Deadline that they are currently talking about what’s coming up on these two shows.
LOOKING FORWARD
Brad, the CW’s president of entertainment, said the decision on All American, which is currently airing its sixth season, will come “soon.”
He said those involved are “talking about it now” and explained that the show’s streaming deal with Netflix “makes everything a little more interesting for everyone.”
“All American is airing now, so we’re seeing how that plays out,” he added, before sharing that Walker is also just a few episodes into his season.
“I feel like we’ve really gotten to a 12-month-a-year development and greenlight cycle,” Brad said, before revealing that fans will hear about “some news in the coming weeks.”
While Brad noted the Netflix deal and an imminent decision for All American, his tease about Walker’s future was a little more cryptic.
“We’ve had a lot of conversations about Walker, Dennis has also had some conversations recently, a lot of conversations with CBS [Studios] about whether or not to continue that show”, he revealed.

When speaking with TV lineBrad shared whether or not Walker’s season 4 finale could work as an acceptable series finale.
“The ending is extraordinarily satisfying,” he said. “But there are also some amazing cliffhangers in the last episode [that could set up a Season 5].”
“It’s a really, really good ending,” the CW boss joked.
CONCERNED FANS
Fans have become concerned that talks about Walker won’t go the way they want and are campaigning for the show to be renewed.
“Walker is so amazing and absolutely deserves and needs a 5th season,” wrote one fan on X (formerly Twitter).
“It would be profoundly silly of The CW to cancel their most-watched show,” tweeted a second concerned fan. “Not only that, it has been said repeatedly that Walker is the best set to work with.”
“Taking away this space would be a big mistake,” the online user added.
“#Walker has an audience and quality, everything,” wrote a third viewer. “I’m begging these studios and people to continue investing in this and recognize its value.”
Brad added that the season finales of All American and All American: Homecoming could also double as series finales, but said the producers weren’t specifically told to plan them that way.
All American is a sports drama that follows Daniel Ezra as football star Spencer James as he goes from high school player to college standout, working toward becoming a professional player.
