A BELOVED HBO drama has dropped its spinoff after they failed to extend the story.
I May Destroy You was a popular comedy-drama show released in 2020 and broadcast on HBO that gained a huge fan base.

After the success of the first season, another project called I May Destroy You Two was in the works.
The show’s creator, Michaela Coel, was working on a series set in the same world, but it has now been abandoned.
Piers Wenger, director of the BBC, broke the news three years ago.
“It’s at a relatively early stage, but I wanted I May Destroy You fans to know there’s a new show coming,” he revealed.
He recently spoke with Deadline about the change of opinion that the producer had.
He said Micaela refused to give I May Destroy You a second season, but toyed with the idea of “I May Destroy You Two,” which was set in the same universe.
“When Piers went public, we were all talking about it,” said executive producer Phil Clarke.
“Those were Michaela’s thoughts too. But then we decided, rightly so, that there wasn’t much more to say. You can only conclude that after exploring a bit.”
The story was loosely based on Michaela’s experience of being sexually assaulted and she also starred in the show.
The main character is a writer who tries to rebuild her life after a trauma.
The show has won numerous awards, including two Emmys and two BAFTAs, and was also named one of the Broadcasting Press Guild’s 50 Best Shows of the Past 50 Years.
Fans of X, formerly Twitter, were divided over the news, with some users upset, while others felt it was the right decision to abandon the show.
“But we need another series of hers soon. Your pen game is FANTASTIC,” wrote one fan.
“I agree to be honest. The series was irreverent, scary, captivating and repulsive all in equal measure and had a great ending,” added another.
“All good! The independent season is perfect,” noted a third.
“Do something else with her then,” said a disappointed fan with a crying face emoji.
“Perfect because the show did everything and more,” explained a fifth.
OTHER?
HBO has not announced whether it would work with Michaela on another project.
This wasn’t the first time fans were disappointed with HBO’s decision to cancel a show, with the network announcing it was cutting short a beloved animated series.
Scavengers Reign is a science fiction series that featured the voices of Sunita Mani, Alia Shawkat, Wunmi Mosaku and Bob Stephenson.
