MICHAEL Weatherly could put together the new NCIS series that arrives exclusively on streaming.
The showrunner teased that the drama spinoff will take place in Europe.
TV Line spoke with producers of several of the network’s shows about their futures and what fans can expect.
Most fans asked about Chicago Fire or Fire Country, but one fan wanted to know the fate of the NCIS spinoff.
“What’s going on with the Tony and Ziva series?”. a fan named Elaine asked.
The agency said production on the spinoff begins this summer in Budapest, Hungary.
However, they did tease that an NCIS Season 22 episode could “set up” the Paramount+ series.
“Let’s put it this way: I love to do that,” co-showrunner Steven D. Binder told TV Line.
“And I have a feeling that Michael [Weatherly] I would be willing to do something like that. I’m open to any ideas anyone has. They’re totally welcome to throw them at me.”
Michael Weatherly played Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo on the CBS show from 2003 to 2016.
He reprized his role in 2024 after making a cameo on the main show.
Now he’s returning to the Tony and Ziva spinoff with his on-screen love, Ziva David, played by Cote DePablo.
FAMILY FIRST
Earlier this week, Michael, 55, dropped more hints about what fans can expect from Tony and Ziva.
The new series will begin with the couple raising their daughter, Tali, in Europe.
Tony now runs a security company that is attacked.
He and his hidden family go on a mission across Europe to find out who is after them.

INCREASING ANTICIPATION
Michael recently answered a lot of burning questions from fans on TikTok.
He said the spinoff will “raise the stakes” from what fans are used to.
“It’s 10 episodes of a long story,” said Michael, adding that it’s almost like a 10-hour movie.
“Limited series is what they call it, I think, but it really allows you to explore the character arc with each episode being reset.”
How many NCIS shows are there?

There have been a few different shows in the NCIS franchise over the years, and even more are on the way.
The original NCIS debuted on CBS in 2003 and just aired its 21st season.
NCIS: Sydney debuts in 2023 and has been renewed for a second season.
NCIS: Hawai’i ran for three seasons before being canceled earlier this year.
NCIS: Los Angeles aired from 2009 to 2024, while NCIS: New Orleans began in 2014 and ended in 2021.
A prequel series, NCIS: Origins, is set to debut later this year, as is a new spinoff called NCIS: Tony & Ziva.
Each episode will have its own open-ended storyline.
“I think [it] it will bring a lot more depth to the characterization and relationships and we will be able to do less recaps and exposition,” Michael shared.
However, he compared the action in the new series to that of a James Bond film.
NCIS aired the season 21 finale earlier this month, but the series typically airs Mondays at 9pm on CBS.
