BRIDGERTON is back with full force.
After a comparatively subdued second series, the latest installment of the Netflix period drama is packed with raunchy scenes, including a six-minute sizzler that had fans taking a day off work to watch it.
Actress Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope, gave fans fair warning about the scene, which was dubbed the show’s most erotic moment ever.
After comforting Nicola about an argument she had with her mother, Colin (Luke Newton) takes off her corset and looks at her naked body.
They then start kissing, leading to one of the hottest TV moments of the year, with Colin’s bare bottom and Nicola’s breasts on display.
The bonkbuster is back at its best, and while Hollywood movies may be shying away from sex, television over the past year has more than filled the void.
Here, we reveal some of the boldest new shows on TV.
The morning program
Jennifer Aniston’s time in Hollywood was squeaky clean for the most part.
That is until the third season of her hit series The Morning Show, which saw her film one of the raunchiest scenes of the 55-year-old actress’ career.
When her character, morning show host Alex, interviews a tech billionaire – played by Jon Hamm – who plans to buy the network he works for, sparks fly between the two.
After interviewing him at his home, they fall into each other’s arms and make a passionate joke that shocked fans on social media, who called it “crazy”.
Jennifer later revealed that she rejected the help of an intimacy coach for the scene.
She told People: “Jon was always a gentleman — I mean, every move, every cut, ‘Are you okay?'”
“It was also very choreographed. That’s the beauty of Mimi and our beautiful editor, the music and the lighting.
The regime
Oscar winner Kate Winslet is no stranger to sex scenes (remember that encounter from Titanic?)
But while shooting scenes for his dark comedy HBO series, things got so heated that the crew had to be sent in.
Kate’s character, Elena Vernham, an authoritarian chancellor of a fictional European country, has several jokes with her love interest, Corporal Zubak, played by Matthias Schoenarts.
During the production of a scene, the crew was so giggly that they were asked to leave the set.
In an interview, Kate said, “When we were filming episode 5, Elena and Zubak were having sex. And she was yelling at him, ‘Don’t bite! Don’t bite!’ Two people had to be kicked out for laughing.”
Griselda
In Griselda, Sofia Vergara gives a rousing performance as Griselda Blanco, the Godmother of Cocaine, a Colombian woman who rose through the ranks of one of the most notorious drug cartels.
Known for her famous curves, fans couldn’t believe their luck when the Modern Family star stripped down for an epic scene with her co-star Alberto Guerra.
As if that weren’t enough, Sofia’s character can also be seen sitting naked in a bathtub after a hard day of business.
She admitted to Graham Norton: “The hardest thing was that I had to wear a wig, fake teeth, a fake nose and a plastic forehead. I also had to wear uncomfortable bras that pushed me down to make me look less Latina.”
Games on TV are an education
By Sun Sexpert Georgie Culley
I’m thrilled to see more hot shows than ever in 2024.
Sex scenes are not only fun and entertaining, but they can also be educational.
By presenting intimate relationships in a variety of contexts, these scenes can offer viewers a more realistic understanding of sex and relationships, breaking down myths and misconceptions that often surround these topics.
Many series now emphasize the importance of consent and communication, helping viewers recognize them as fundamental components of a healthy sexual relationship.
This can be especially useful for younger audiences who may not receive good sex education elsewhere.
What’s more, diverse depictions of sex on TV shows can help normalize different sexual orientations, kinks, and body types—empowering viewers to get in and out of the bedroom.
Supersex
With a suggestive title and plot, telling the story of porn legend Rocco Siffredi, viewers weren’t too surprised that the show featured a lot of sex.
However, some Instagram users weren’t ready for the teaser Netflix posted on its page ahead of the show’s premiere.
The Supersex trailer featured a shirtless Alessandro Borghi, playing Rocco, surrounded by a bevy of beauties.
He then turns his attention to a woman, kisses her, hugs her and cups her ass with his hands. He then grinds her suggestively.
All of this didn’t sit too well with some Instagram users. Many took to the platform to ask whether such a sexually charged clip was necessary.
An hour after appearing, the clip was deleted. And that was just the trailer!
Obsession
When it comes to raunchy TV shows, few compare to Netflix’s Obsession.
Starring Richard Armitage and Charlie Murphy, the miniseries revolves around a man who begins an affair with his son’s fiancée. The film contains so much nudity that Netflix was forced to issue a warning.
The shocking scenes show bare breasts, buttocks and, at one point, full-frontal male nudity.
As if that wasn’t enough, fans of the steamy thriller had to tune out the show after main character William used a hotel pillow during a solo erotic act.
Speaking about what she found strange about filming the scenes, Charlie said: “Certain positions. Holding while the cameras were rolling. You’re like, ‘I don’t know if my thigh can take the weight of my body here.’
Outlander
Since its first season, Outlander has thrilled fans with countless sex scenes. In fact, many critics said the show redefined intimacy on the small screen.
One of the most memorable was between Roger Mackenzie and his wife Brianna, played by Roger Rankin and Sophie Skelton, respectively.
It all started when Roger admitted that he was jealous of Sophie’s relationship with his colleague. After assuring him he had nothing to worry about, the couple hugged and soon found themselves having passionate sex in their caravan.
Isn’t that weird enough? The soundtrack for the game was In the Air Tonight!, by Phil Collins!
Sex/Life
The show is inspired by BB Easton’s memoir, 44 Chapters About 4 Men. It’s about Billie, a suburban housewife who seeks a fuller life.
Played by Sarah Shahi, Billie is torn between her love for her husband and her passionate and exciting sex life with her ex-boyfriend.
The show broke the internet with everything from full frontal nudity to wild, intimate scenes that leave very little to the imagination.
Sarah also praised the scenes, saying: “You can be a mother and still want to be a sexual goddess at the same time.
Fatal seduction
From the beginning, this series lets you know that it is not for the faint-hearted.
It starts with one of the characters in a monologue while taking off a pair of sexy panties.
The South African series revolves around Nadi, a teacher who begins an illicit affair with a much younger man when she suspects her husband is cheating on her.
Scenes between Kgomotso Christopher’s Nandi and Prince Grootboom’s Jacob have already caused comments on social media.
